Does the sun ever shine in San Jose, and are there any popular rooftop hotel pools where girls are allowed, like in Phil.or Thailand? Are there many gyms or yoga studios around the gulch? Thanks in advance

Others may disagree, but to me it's way to cold for there to be pools in San Jose. Every one that I have ever gotten in was freezing. While it may get up to 80-85 at night, a lot of time it gets done into the 50's at night all year around.

I haven't been there for a few years, but there still may be a gym at the Radisson Hotel. They also have a small pool and an area to sit in the sun. Just outside the metro area there are a couple of nice hotels with pools, would be tough to bring girls there for a party though IMHO.

There is a gym I used to use across the street from the southwest corner of Parque Central (Calle 2 & Avenida 4). It's been years since I've been there, and I forgot the name. The gym has several floors, and a "spinning" studio. Short-time memberships were available (eg weekly). The other option is to go to Sportmens's Lodge, pay $5, and use its gym.

Pools are scarce in San Jose, and when you find one, it won't be like in Thailand or the PI.

The gym across from Parque Central used to be part of the Multi-Spa chain. It is now an independent and is called Fitness San Jose.
Multi-Spa has recently opened a high end gym in Llorente-Tibas, across the street from the offices of La Nación. It's about a ten minute taxi drive from the gulch.
It has an Olympic size pool that usually has pretty good temperatures, a jacuzzi, steam room, all new equipment in the weight room and treadmill, etc. areas. A very good snack bar and a GNC. They also have yoga classes in Spanish. All in all, it's more luxurious than the upscale gym I went to when I lived in D.C.
I'll post some photos of it later today.

I don't know what the big attraction is for pools? You are just going to be swimming in other people's urine and expectorations, kinda like sleeping on the linens in all the barrio amon hotels and the HDR! YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's also a big pool complex out near Cariaria close to the airport off the main autopista + other public complexes scattered thruout SJO. Maybe after Tico and Tica swim practices with the many swimmers the water heats up a bit.

Somewhere would think there would be a heated pool but proly inside.
