I would also say just put him up and sportsmens and just mention nothing about the girls. I would also agree with the Internet it takes little to no effort to find out about the girls. Hell I found CRT while researching a surf trip. Before I planned my trip I only knew of Costa Rica as a surf destination. A few hey what's this link about moments and my life was changed haha.

I agree with Seawub, SL is a good idea. The man is probably not as innocent as you think. If he doesn't want to do P4P, he will still have a good time at SL watching sports and talking to the other gringos and he might find a wingman for the clubs.
And so, Seawub you are now addicted like me, and I don't mean to drugs, or surfing, but to the chicas of San Jose.

Have to agree with the group here. In fact in March my 22 yr-old son is coming as it coincides with his spring break. He is more than aware of what I will be doing there as well. He states go down and get it out of my system so I don't get married again! Now will he partake in mongering? No but he will be doing the zip lines and such. And yes I thought long and hard about taking him down but I wanted to take him somewhere safe and compared to many other places the gulch is a safe place. Now I didn't tell him about the Friday night show at the Pirate Club that I am taking him to but that can be our little secret.

Guys, thanks for all the advice. I thought he was willing to pay up to $50. But he found this:

CostaRicaBackpackers dot com

$13 per night in a dorm, pool, wifi, kitchen privileges, party at the pool bar every night with international travelers, and more. I'm sure that this is best place for him.

I think the bus to Montezuma actually gets on the ferry from Punta Arenas to Pacero and then drives on to Montezuma, so there are no worries about connections. $13, maybe 5 hours.

He's all set. I wish I were 22 again, and knew what I know now.

Now that sounds like a plan for your nephew. Costa Rica Backpackers is a hostel (obviously), there's a bunch of 'em in town, he is sure to be familar with them from his Europe experience. They don't allow woking girl "guests" though.

The bus is a great way to travel around CR, and they're real cheap.

For a whole variety of reasons, its a really bad idea (I don't have to draw you a map, do I) to put him anywhere close to the gulch - and since its one night, forget downtown San Jose - he is not going to "score" knowing nothing about CR, speaking zero Spanish - let him stay near the airport, relax - never put yourself in a position for someone else - especially a relative - to know your business.

Its one phucking night for god sakes - plus he has to get up the next day -

The guy is 22,remember being that age
The hostel is a good route he may have some fun to boot
The bus must leave from centro, so why sit in an airport hotel for the night?

Let him handle himself, bet he comes out with only a few scraches :D

IMHO the SL is the worst place to have him stay, and will give away your cover

The one in SJ is near the Supreme Court building so it's an easy commute to the bus. It's really not bad, pool, restaurant, bar, wifi, computers, I think $10 for the bunk room, $30 for a double, but communal potties.

I brought the son of a Tico friend of mine from Quepos there last April who was applying for a job at the court. He did next time I saw him tell me that a train runs by there pretty early, so there's that.

Hey, 22 y.o., one night, close to the bus, seems OK. Any odds he makes it to the DR?

I know the next new guy post will be to see if there is a CRT discount and a chica fee.

Seems to be on a budget so maybe not a great idea being downtown for the night before he returns to the airport, that'll take a little planning, a few decent places like that in Alejuala which is a short ride to the airport.
