Happy New Year! I'm a newbie, so forgive me if this is in the wrong section.

I'm traveling with a group on business this coming Feb, and will be staying at the Hotel Presidente. I saw in another post that no matter what the tica is dressed like, she will not be allowed into the HP.

My questions are: How exactly would anyone at the hotel know whether or not she is a tica? Could she not be a co-traveler, or someone else with whom I'm having a business meeting?

Thank you.

This has been posted about a lot - I stayed at the Prez for years, until they changed their policy

I'll make this short and sweet:

You cannot bring in any guests - period - unless she is with you when you REGISTER - its the wrong place to stay if you want to bring in guests - period They don't want or have to know - if you bring in a female guest and try to take her to your room, you will be stopped - plus any working girl know the score at the Prez and will not even venture there with you.

You are using "tica" as another word for prostitute - its not, and its highly offensive to Costa Ricans - so call them "chicas" ( tica simply means female Costa Rican - its a comon newbi mistake, but now that you know, don't use the term)

I assume you mean "whore" when you use the word, "tica." A whore may be a tica, but a tica is not necessarily whores. I like to refer to them as "working girls"... it's less rough around the edges.

Hotel security can usually spot a working girl when she walks through the door. Age, appearance, dress and demeanor are dead giveaways. Most working girls in the gulch alreay know they are not welcome at Presidente.

It does not matter at the Prez, BD - if you are not registered, like when you check in, you don't get upstairs - period - no one is consulting a book for "whore looks" and how a whore dresses   :P

They have the right to make their own rules, and they have done so - foolishly IMO, but their place and their rules - I suppose its working for them; if not they would have relaxed their policies - I loved that place, and am personally disappointed at the turn their business model has taken - but I will not give my money to those who would judge me negatively without even knowing me.

Scuba and all, by doing my homework and reading up on posts like this helped me avoid making reservations at hotel presidente by reading old posts.

Also, by staying on top of things, I was able to warn 3 fellow newbie mongerers of what to expect by what I had read. I saw them numerous times at the SL on my virgin trip and at the hdr, and they thanke me for my warning.

Sounds like he is traveling on business, 'Wub, with others in his party

But maybe he could change his hotel - since he did zero research about the Prez and its policies, maybe he can switch to the "Hotel Nacional" or "El Grano del Oro"

(Both hotels mentioned are ver nice - El Grano especially - but if you even think about ladies, you are asked to leave - not quite, but almost - obviously, I'm kidding - a little  )

If u really checked in with ur GF at registration, how would entire staff of Presidente know when she walks in later at some other time when there is different shift personnel at front desk? So any female ( whether chica or tica or gringa) will be looked as chica and/or may be stopped??

This whole thread is stupid. Just book a second room at HLH. They are throwing in one free session so it isn't going to cost you much. Also, do you want to hobby in the same hotel as coworkers?

Not really 'San But you offer a great solution :)

New guy asks a question - in the old days of the board, he would have received 3 - 5 posts telling him to "DO A SEARCH" At least now he knows the score, and for those who don't read the board like a Southern Baptist reads his bible  :P  its good to reinforce the <stupid, IMO> policy's of the Prez

Oh, and 'Vally - its not that tough - if she registered with the guy at check in, her info would be on file with the front desk and she would be allowed to proceed to her room as a guest - this is not an option for the OP, but is for the guy that comes to CR to see ONE girl and plans to be with her for the duration of his stay (probably applies to a very few).
