JB,

Did you use to go to Nick's when they were located in that little shop on the trail just off the Palmetto before they moved to Miami Lakes? Sorry to hear Nick has passed away.

Never met Senior but Junior is always at the Warehouse off of the Palmetto….

I use to always buy directly from the Warehouse until I found a Little Smoke Shop in Pembroke Pines that handles the Perdomo Line…

Nothing Better than a Nice Cigar, Shot of Whiskey and a Beautiful Lady at your side…. Well I guess she could be between your legs but that’s another story line for another Thread…

As Cigar Dave would say “Long Ashes” to you Brother..

A bit of Info for Canadian Travelers,
Us Canadians are allowed up to 50 cubans brought back.
BUT dont air transfer via the US or you will loose them plus Fines ?

Another stupid rule I dont get, Yes in the US Cubas are like Heroin,
yet above the 49th parralel , bring 50 , need a light ?
* the quota might be 25 But still just fine and leagle EH.

The stupid rule is the result of the stupid & misguided (IMHO) US embargo of Cuba.

Can someone logically explain why I can legally visit China, Vietnam, Russia, etc but not Cuba?

Fiedler,

I guess I must clarify my earlier analogy of Cuban cigars to heroin. I made this analogy when a board member asked if it was legal to bring cubans into the US. I stated it was about as legal as heroin....I did not mean to imply the penalty or severity of the crime was at all similar. Just wanted to emphasize it is a law and not legal.. plain as day. I bring back a 5 pack of cubans purchased each trip at the duty free shop. I'm confident worst case scenario will be confiscation of my puros (cigars).

This is an interesting thread maybe it should be a sticky in the newbie section. Anyway currently has anyone had any problems bringing in any boxes to the states from CR?

A buddy of mine bought cigars at the door of the DR as we were leaving. i let him put to boxes in my luggage. At Dallas they took them away and and we had to sign a paper etc. No big deal. Then on my second trip! They jerked me out of line and a security guy in a white shirt type uniform came over amd pointed his finger at me and said"It doesn't matter one goddamned bit to me that you are in a wheel chair. where are the godammend cigars. you might as well tell me because we are going to find them. More accuizations of smuggling and having gone to Cuba etc etc. I walk with a cane and the trip from the A terminal to the C terminal is so long that i get a guy with a wheel chair to push me. They even searched him as well. The jerk named a town near where i live and asked if i had ever been arrested there. i stated no, and he gave me a rash of shit as if i was lying. Finally at the end of him jerking me around he took my plastic bag with some shells in it and turned it upside down and dumped it out on top of my clothes that i had the maids at the DR wash for me. pleanty of sand all over every thing, he then looked me in the eye and started to leave. I had to ask for my DR license back or he would have kept it. I kept my mouth shut and we left. He was wanting me to argue so i would miss my flight and i wouldn't do it. I haven't really been hassled since. On the last trip in Jan of this year he grabbed me out of line again but something came up and he passed me off to another guy that was decent about stuff. They accused me of being a smuggler, going to Cuba, and living in CR and telling a traineee that this was a good one and we are going to write him up.. I don't want any thing to do with any cigars. :(

Versatile:
Excellent point! First off it is "ILLEGAL" to bring back Cuban Cigars into the US and we here at CRT do not condone any type of illegal action regardless of how insignificant you may feel it is!

Secondly if you are ever caught with illegal substances in this case Cuban Cigars, your passport is now tagged and everytime you return from abroad you are going to be under very tight scrutiny from the TSA!

The choice is yours but I think Versatiles expierience speaks for itself!

One way of skirting the federalies is to pull the labels of of the Cuban cigars and have them placed in a Dominican cigar box. Who is to know if they are Cuban? If you want the labels, mail them to yourself or a friend with a note " Bob, I know how much you love Cuban cigars, so I figure I would rub it in. Look at all of the Cohibas I have smoked so far in Costa Rica!" 8)
