Myrivers: If you have not been to CR for awhile you might be more familiar with Shannon's Irish Pub. That is now Chubbs.

It still does have good food. Cobb salad is the best. I didn't realize that you were an old CR hand.

Jawanker... I have a few trips under my belt.
The 1st big change will be no brass rail at the Prez.

And no "guests" in the rooms :( :?

Its not the same place, by a long shot - a shame, IMO

I tend to be a critic of the food in CR, but Chubbs is good :)

Could you direct or refer me to someone in finding the following information:

1. All necessary documents for running a restaurant (health codes, occupancy codes, anything that needs to be on display inside)

2. Employee docs ( hire and fire)

3. Taxes (what, when, where to file).

Thank you in advance.

Hey

You received some sound advice, however it is possible to have a successful restaurant in Costa Rica. Chubbs, Time Out, Mac's, Henry's, Chi Chi's and my place are all examples of this. But there are far more bar / restaurants which have closed.

With a lot of hard work and a little luck, my wife and I were able to make our bar / restaurant profitable. But after 5 years, we are ready to start a family and get out of the bar business. So we are selling and leaving Costa Rica.

Contact me and I will share our story. After that if you still have the restaurant bug, maybe you will interested in buying my place.

Good luck

Hey Process - this is not e bay -

You never posted, or joined, or contributed a f.u.ck.ing thing to CRT - but now you see a post by some stupid gringo who wants info on opening a res't - and yours "just happens" to be for sale - so you figure, let me post er up.....

If yousr was "all that" - no way would you sell it.

You and the OP probably deserve each other.

This is a board where we talk about cunt - not selling stuff; especially in the forums - you feel that strongly, buy a phucking ad - people like you make me puke :x :x :x

And this board used to be "A Gentlemen's guide to Costa Rica". Why don't you sober up or take your hostility elsewhere Scuba1  and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for your Christmas cheer.
Years ago I would have taken your vile, moronic words personally. However, after living in Costa Rica for six years, reading tons of unfounded idiotic opinions from people like you, who have never and will never accomplish anything significant, I have become numb.

Why are you reading this post, anyway? It is clear from you postings; the only thing you have to offer is your opinion as a “food critic” in Costa Rica. BTW, what qualifies you to criticize any restaurant? Have you owned a restaurant, are you a chef, have you been trained as a critic with years of experience? Have you been published anywhere other than a Costa Rica bulletin board?
I think, we all know the answer, NO!
In the end, it’s assholes like you that make running a business and life here so difficult. Phuck you and your opinion. Merry Christmas.

You got some pair of balls, Process - you use the board to try to sell your place, and you never contributed a bloody thing to this board - in fact - its your first post - and I'm the asshole?????

I've contributed a lot to this board - starting with being a paid member - my posts on food are a very small part of what I've posted about - but you know best

Paco, a little latent hostility, towards me huh - must go back to when I called you out for the all the nonsense gay oriented posts when Florida was alive - but thats ok -

BTW.....I'm very comfortable in what I've achieved in my life and almost never drink. Like it or not, i was cold sober when I posted and meant every word.

Guy who never posted, never contributed a damn thing to CRT but uses the board to try to sell something - I call him out on it - and I'm the jerk - go Phuck yourselves

PS Merry Christmas

Certainly Scuba's post was not couched in diplomatic parlance it was however right on the mark. The following has been posted many times by Admin 1:

"Small Item that seems to have gotten lost in translation that needs to be addressed here. The CRT Forum will not be used for unsolicited advertisements of products, services, etc. We have both advertising available for the larger business model, and a very inexpensive classifieds section for the member who just has a small service or product they would like to get out to our membership."

No one has disputed the facts Scuba pointed out which are the poster is not a paid members and he has never posted prior to his posting offering a restaurant for sale. If the poster wanted to sincerely offer his help as well as advise the OP that he had a successful restaurant for sale he could have accomplished that by sending a PM.

Perhaps everyone should just cool down and enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.

Heloooooooooo

Someone gets it - thank you ID :)

While I could have been a tad more diplomatic, (ya think :o   ) ID's points were same as mine - it just pissed me off to see a non paid member, one who's first post was to shill his place for sale, post - sorry if so many did not get it, but I stand with what I wrote. I would feel the same way about any item offerd for sale in the forums vs taking out an ad.

Oh...and NHHank....its 40+ trips in 15 years

2 things you can make book on:

I have no desire to be a "hall monitor" but if I see a post that I think needs a response, I will do so - some of you totally ignore the many many helpful posts I've made - the vast majority in fact
My posting style is not gonna change - and I have a ton of PM's telling me to not even consider doing so
