New Flights to Latin America
United will begin weekly year-round service between its hub at Washington-Dulles International Airport and both Guatemala City, Guatemala, and San Jose, Costa Rica, subject to government approval. The airline will also begin weekly year-round service between its Chicago O'Hare hub and San Jose, subject to government approval. These flights, beginning April 13, 2013, will operate using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 16 seats in United Business, 48 seats in Economy Plus and 90 seats in United Economy class.
These new flights will complement United's existing service to Guatemala City and San Jose from the airline's hubs in New York and Houston.

Good news! I go through Houston so it won't help me, but at least this means less people getting funneled through houston.

If you mean non-stop from Chicago to SJ, OMG, incredible good news, what a blessing. Never could figure out why airlines stopped the non-stops from O'Hare about 10-12 years ago. Turns an 8.5 hour ordeal to 5.5 hs.

Please post if you hear more.

That is great news........it is a start. Key word in the article is "weekly service", not "daily service".

For me (and possibly alot of others around ORD area), the once a week non-stop service between ORD and SJO just won't work for a number of reasons as I normally do a 5 day, 4 night run to SJ over a weekend.

Again, great news for those that can take advantage of the weekly NON-STOP service. Be curious to see what the pricing is for the non-stop vs. the pricing going thru IAH.

E.S.

I looked at their sight and you are right. But Trimologist is is also right. It's weekly and unless that fits your plans forget about it. Also UAL-Cont has entered both the CR and DR market big time in the last few weeks. They have more flights to both those places than I have seen from them in since way before the merger. But for the most part all they have done is raise prices and take away the best flight times across the board at every site I have seen.

This is a major improvement. Because I used to work in the United terminal, the only flight I remember anywhere to Costa Rica direct from O'Hare was to one of the beach towns that has a International Airport, forgot the name, but still this is a major improvement.

Liberia was probably the airport you are thinking of.
