Does anyone known of a Deli near the gulch or have a recommendation where to get a good club sandwich ?

I usually end up catching a cab to Mall San Pedro to visit Subway but that's out of the way and cab fare.

Thanks in advance..

Just talk to any of the cops in the gulch and call him a cabrón. You'll get a club sandwich  :)

There is quite a few deli/bakery places all around the gulch. Surprised at the places I found when I just picked a direction and started walking.

Wiseash, too funny. I liked those 2 cubans you sold me and my wing over Thanksgiving. Very nice indeed.

There is good food there, just not everywhere, you have to find it. I really do not consider a club sandwich gourmet food,
It's just a matter of finding it.

If you are looking for a real deli like the Italian and Jewish ones you find in the states you will not find it in Costa Rica. A few years ago myself and another CRT member went to The Kosher Center that described it self as a Jewish deli. We ordered a pastrami sandwich and a corned beef sandwich. They did not have rye bread, mustard or kosher dill pickles.

I do not consider a Subway club sandwich as deli food. :P

OP wanted to locate a good Club Sandwhich or Deli.

ID cleared the Deli part up, it ain't happening in SJ.

There is an Italian place in Quepos across the street west from Dos Locos (enfrente estacion de buses) that qualifies as an Italian deli, very good Italian cold cuts, sausage and subs similar to USA Italian neighborhood quality. Lots of native Italianos in and around Quepos for some reason, well maybe the reason it's a really neat place to settle--if you can make a living or don't have to worry how.

As far as club sandwiches, the DelRey kitchens makes one that is very similar to what you get in the US con dill pickle, a little pricey but all their stuff is: $12 for seafood soup? But good.

Okay ... Just as I thought, not to be found near the gulch unless you want a 10:00 club from the Del Mar.

Solution I'll bring my own. Pick up my favorite smoked ham, turkey and bacon and my favorite hoogie rolls, freeze the meat the night before I leave and hope the rolls don't get to smashed and I'll have the best Club sandwich in the gulch except for the one that WiseAsh gets from smarting off to a SJ cop

Panderia is the Spanish word for bakery. You will find them all over San Jose.

You guys got a serious sandwich jones going on! :D You might have to get out of the gulch for a trip to Escazu. I can't remember the name (maybe some of the Escazu guys can help) but there is a two story place there that is an Italian deli on the first floor and a restaurant upstairs. Don't eat the stuff anymore so haven't been there in some time but the quality, prices and everything was good there and I had some of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
