I hesitate to disagree here, but I am a tireless campaigner against over-generalization. I have been rejected many times for poorer men. I'm sure you can think of some reason to explain this. Perhaps I'm horribly ugly, smell bad, or some such thing. Even so, it's not all about the money. Likewise, I don't simply try to find the most attractive woman. The prettiest woman that ever showed interest in me was somebody I passed on because she was an alcoholic and a drug abuser.

I put this question to other members... Have you always chosen the most attractive woman you can afford? Have you ever been rejected for a poorer man? I can't add a poll here, and don't think I'll bother starting a new topic. But chime in as you please, men.

Good point Bilko. I think it she needs to find a good "hunter/gatherer". Once she finds someone adequate, then it is pure chemistry. I'm not a scientist, but in my life, I have found maybe two girls where there was a chemical attraction. Something about the way she smells or looks. The scent of her breath or sweat. It can be chemical.

To prove this - my last girlfriend, who I was stupidly with for almost a year, was attractive. But, she was a miserable train wreck and spent most of her time trying to ruin my day. On a chemical basis, she constantly was gifting me with her yeast infections. A stubborn rash on my C*ck that looked like jock itch was diagnosed as a male yeast infection (ie. penile thrush). I was always at the Farmacia trying different elixirs and cremes. There is a real witch in Escazu that practices white magic. She said she could cure it by tickling my sack with a bloody chicken foot. I reluctantly declined. We showered and scrubbed before and after sex. I even took pills and it never totally cleared up until I dumped the bitch. We were chemically incompatible.

You guys know the DR daytimer who sits at the tables between the bell hop desk and the small bar everyday? Everyday, maybe no week ends. Very thin girl, long black hair, classic Latina female face and I mean pretty by that. 5'2". Perfect english. Heavy smoker. I won't tell you her name but she sits in the same area every day and has for a long time.

Anyway she was the first one I took to the beach 15 years ago on my 3rd of 4th trip. We went to Flamingo, it was green season so we had the the place to ourselves. Taught her to drive in the parking lot. She wanted Flamingo because she had an older Gringa ex-pat friend there. Pretty good time. I'd see her every time I was in SJ, but never pulled her after that first trip, no reason why other than variety is the spice. But always would go to lunch or just take a walk. I'd call her on her B-day. She was a great source for me on many occasions. A few months ago, I forgot my computer charger under the desk in the room at Sleep Inn. Called her. She went and got it at the desk, Sleep Inn had put it in a box for me. She took it to the bus station for Quepos and shipped it. Good girl.

But about 3 years ago she wasn't around. I called her cell and no longer a working number. I asked the other regs who I knew were her friends where she was. In the Estados, got married. Wow! glad for her and her then 3 K*ds, now 4, one by him.

This last trip when she got my charger shipped, she went to the doctor with me. She was bored, the DR was slow, she wanted lunch. Had a short appt at the Doc at U of CR. At lunch she asked if I would look at some legal papers for her from the Embassy about how to get US Citizenship for the one she had by him. I found that ain't as easy as we all think, at least not anymore. Alot of proof requirements needed from him. Told her. She said "problem". Why? He ain't going to cooperate. Why not? OK boys here is what I was getting to, similar to another poster.

She got busted doing tricks and it hit the local paper. He went nuts and got her on a plane as soon as he could. Why did you do that, you said the guy was cool? I know, she said, I messed up.

It happens boys. Some of them will do it. Risky proposition.

Yep, he definitely knew what she was when he took her home. She's naturally beautiful with similar but better than Penelope Cruz looks and she looks like that in the morning, cool accent, a great smile, very poised with a fun personality. I guess he thought he could straighten her out and all would be well and he'd live happily ever after with his Latina trophy. I suppose in the annals of history a guy has successfully converted a former to a good wife. For me, I'd never be able to get it out of my head, I'm too old school Irish catholic.

It would all be a big but forgettable nightmare for him, but he has a Ch*ld in CR who he has not seen since he gave her the 1 way ticket. And knowing her, I doubt she would deny him visiting, or probably even joint custody where the Ch*ld could go back and forth, for better or worse. No clue other then I guess he has decided screw this and blacks it out. Pretty tough to blow off a little one that's yours.

Their Ch*ld is the one who got the shaft in this deal, now has no dad. As did the other three to a degree. I know where they live and it ain't no where near what she probably had and blew in the states. Her other K*ds are old enough to know. They're probably thinking ma, how did you mess this up. We are back in the barrio.

You mention "conversions" from working girl to wife - I know - or more correctly, have heard of - a few instances where this has worked well - but conversely many many more where it has not; almost lottery winning odds that it will not for reasons that should be very apparent.

Again I could say lots, but the irony to me has always been that most guys would never consider a serious relationship or marriage with a sex worker in the USA, but would outside of the country, sure - that fact has never failed to amaze me.

The Ch*ld, a totally innocent party always gets the shaft, unfairly, because of the bad decisions made in this case by the mother, but also, to a certain extent by the father - on some level he had to know that the likelihood of long time success was small.

I've posted this before, but the advice my friend John gave me back in 8th grade in the late 1960's makes a lot of sense:

PS To me (because I don't want to quote a statistic or percentage that I really can't totally back up and thus piss off my friend ID ) the vast majority of problems we have as a nation and personally can be attributed to poor personal choices - your example is a good one; if the mother did not choose to go out phucking, she would be living in an upper middle class home in CT vs Barrio Mexico in CR (just using an example to make a point)

Not a fan of generalizations either but if I have to make one it would be this: women like men who are masculine and guys like women who are feminine. Masculinity and femininity encompass many things,some of which are hard to define. You know it when you see it. Money has its appeal but the mating dance preceeded its existence by countless years. Thinking of my male friends, some of those without money or overly good looks do the best with women due to their inner game and confidence. Money or looks will catch female attention but not hold it without solid game to back it up.
