Heading down to C.R. in February...gonna do 4 nights in jaco, then 3 or 4 in san jose.
We were planning on staying at the cocal in jaco...but ive been reading bout all the issues the managements been having with government.
Any other nice, waterfront, chica friendly places in Jaco?

I wouldn't recommend the place I stayed in Jaco, but if I go back I'll try the Copacabana.

Lots better options - the Cocal; the Beatle Hotel (right next to the Beatle Bar) - if you have to be on the water, the Canciones del Mar is another (but they have gotten stupid in their pricing).

Whatever issues Cocal is having or may have in the future I believe is irrevent - book w/ a credit card - not a reason not to consider the place.

I would always recommend Cocal and if you have 2-3 in your group, the Vista del Mar condos are a GREAT choice. The Cocacabana has nice suites but the normal rooms are way small for my taste and overall pricing there is a bit much. If you like to stay a little away from town (5 miles max) just found out the Backyard Hotel on Playa Hermosa (much nicer beach and surfer paradise) allows guests.

Just spent 6 nights there. No issues, good staff, rooms are like a US hotel. Two pools if you don't like the ocean. The nighttime action is yours for the taking, party winds down about 11p. Good food, nice pool bar, not much of a casino.

Get one of the 4 rooms over looking the pool at the cocal.

Spent 3 nights at Vista del Mar condos next to Cocal and I loved it. Fantastic rooms and 5 mins walk to Cocal Bar.

wingman and I got a two bedroom condo at vista del mar price at $300 a night and could get three bedroom at $385 in march..nice to have a kitchen to cook and keep your catch of the day. also a short walk to pool party at coral hotel at night.
