I will be staying over near Sabana Park. Not near the action from what I hear. I will have a car - so I can easily get over to the SL or wherever. Hopefully see you around the 4th or later - I'll be there for a few weeks.

Ill be hitting town about noon tomorrow if all goes smoothly. If the thurs night event is still on ill be there.

I will also be staying near Sabana Park Nov 7-14, getting some dental work done, but found this forum, and now believe this could be a mulch-faceted trip. Couple of questions:
I assume cab ride to gulch is best from Sabana Norte area-how much should I expect to pay?
Also noticed on the monger map, that there are a few MP's in that area, any good: OK for a gringo.
Best place to watch NFL on Sunday?-SL? I assume it will also be a good place to meet CRT members

First off, I strongly recommend you get a VIP membership here on CRT. The discounts will help pay for the cost of membership on your first trip. You'll also have access to the VIP section, which includes printable maps, a list of more local spots, etc.

Taxi fare from Sabana Norte to the Sportsmen's will be around $12.00 depending on traffic/route. This is a guess on my part, based on a restaurant run out there a couple years ago, so take it for what it's worth. I'm certain that a local resident like Irish Drifter will comment if this estimate is wrong.

Yes, local massage parlors will be friendly to your U.S. or Canadian dollars, although not all offer sex. There are a number of good MPs on Paseo Colon which in fact, do offer sex. Check out the "Tico Bar and Massage Parlor List" elsewhere on this forum.

Best places to watch NFL include the Sportsmen's and the Hotel Del Rey/Blue Marlin bar. You can legally bet at the latter. Ambience and fellowship are better at the former.

Look for the friendly blind guy with the neatly-cut brown hair and the long white stick. Oh yeah, I have a blind cane too. I'll be happy to interpret for you or whatever. Welcome aboard.

I could not imagine doing a trip to San Jose without being a VIP member, I did the math for a friend just yesterday, and at the end of my trip next week I am at over 500 dollars in savings on my hotel room alone when you combine all 4 trips I have taken. Not a bad deal for that 35 dollar card. Not only paid for itself the first, trip but in one year it has saved enough money between food, drinks, girls, and hotel costs that it has pretty much paid for flights and hotel for my next trip.

I won't be arriving until Sunday, November 4th as I posted earlier on this thread. I'll be arriving mid-afternoon this coming Sunday, Hurricane Sandy permitting.

Just confirming, gentlemen, that I will arrive on 11/4 at the HLH, transfer to SL on the 7th, and be around till the 12th. Will be looking to join a posse. Older guy, pale complexion, usually wearing a tan hat.

Dude, get the lifetime membership. For my first trip in November of 09' I got the one year membership (paid for itself and then some on that first trip alone). Kicked myself in the ass for not getting the lifetime then. Bought the lifetime when the one year expired. This coming trip is my 8th trip in 3 years......trust....you WILL come back to Costa Rica again!

Naw, I'm a mongering addict. Costa Rica is just the flavor of the month. I was an Amsterdam addict for a while and a German FKK adict too. My passport looks like a whos who of monger destinations.

EL S and Ocho are trying to get me to go to Columbia in January so that may be the new flavor, who knows.

the jeans and t-shirt thing was a joke...I just described like 90% of the mongers in DR, SL and HLH.
