Hey Guys,

I would like to get some extensive dental implant work done in January.

Any advice on a good implant dentist in San Jose?

Really appreciate your help! Thank you!

have not done extensive work but 90210 was super professional for a cleaning and i was really impressed by how clean and modern the facility was. they picked me up and dropped me off all for 50 bucks. i will use them again without question.

Had a number of implants done; good results; professional practice - call early to make an appointment; leave extra time - if they estimate the work will take 4 days, plan on 7; discuss over the phone the type of work you want done; have recommended to others who also reported good results - practice is about 40% tico and 70% USA:

Dr Marcos Munoz Cavallini

Tel: 506 2222 8443 or 2255 3386

e mail cavallinidentist@hotmail.com

I think you will be well served and happy with the work :)

Do not pick a dentist by price. Do your homework as to what is invoved in a quality job for implants and crowns. Ask questions about the procedure and the materials used. I know quit a few gringos that had many problems due to inferior materials or poor workmanship. Be very careful about the promises that are made. Do not under any circumstance pick a dentist by price alone.

Cavallini, but only if you don't mind waiting, they overbook.

Scuba1.

I am happy to share. It was nothing terrible and I was not attempting to bash Dr. Cavellini in any way. My personal experience was I much preferred the prompt and attentive service of Dr. Anglada and his staff. His prices are slightly higher but his offices and equipment are very modern.

I found the staff at Dr. Cavellini's offices pleasant enough but due to their high volume were not able to give me the time to ask questions and the time I required to make an informed decision. With their waiting rooms constantly full of anxious patients they would like to rush you into the chair and go to work with minimal discussion and explanation of the procedures I found with Dr. Anglada and his staff.

I also spoke with a few clients of Dr Cavellini while in the office while waiting over an hour for my scheduled "consultation" and found very little if any negative feedback other than sitting for HOURS (I capitalize for emphasis because thats was the response I received from other patients) waiting for their appointment. One of the things I discussed with them during consultations was how much time would I be sitting in the waiting room. I found Dr. Anglada much more to my liking. I spent an average of 10-15 minutes waiting for my appointment upon my arrival at their offices.

I would recommend to anyone seeking dental work in CR to do their diligence, make a few appointments for consultation (in person as I did is preferable, but can be done via phone/skype) I also had x-rays done in the USA and sent prior to my trip to a few of the Dr's I planned on meeting. I then sat down with them and gauged my comfort level of working with them. I was very happy with my decision.

I hope the poster find this information helpful.

Thanks :)

While the waiting area can be crowded, and I once left in disgust after waiting 2 hours for a cleaning (with an appointment, no less - called Dr Marco and he apologized profusely) - I found the inital consultation thorough, and the treatment plan well layed out - but there is no argument that waits can be long, a combination of the popularity of their practice, and the fact that Costa Ricans seem to accept poor customer service overall.

About 5 years ago I had a number of CAPS done by a local dentist.

I remember back then doing a fair bit of research here on CRT and found doctors Rubenstein and Cordero being mentioned here rather favorably a number of times.

So I got 2 IMPLANTS done by Prisma Dental - http://www.prismadental.com/

They have a very modern office, speak English very well and I recall them being very cost effective (for someone from the U.S. anyway). No to very little waiting in their offices.

Anyway, as I needed some bone grafts done, I had the bone grafting (and the implants ?) done in January and went back in October for the teeth to be put in.

No muss, no fuss, and NO pain,,,,,,, :D

I'll second 90210. I had major work done there back in April of this year, and I'm going back next month to finish up implants and get permanent bridges etc. I have never had better care at any dentist I have been to. Never had to wait more than a few minutes, and Jeff the driver who gave me rides back and forth is a heck of a nice guy. I could go on, but I'll just say that my dentist there is Dr. Fernandez. She is absolutely great.

Not 90210 for sure.

BonePony reported they permanently burned his gums

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37803&p=426861&hilit=+90210#p426861

and Honeybee reported her temps fell off in her soup.

I recommend 90201. Three implants, three crowns, done very nicely. The owner is American. They provide crowns to over 500 dental practices in the USA. They have 29 technicians on site making crowns. You cannot get faster turnaround anywhere in Costa Rica. They also have some very sexy employees. :P
