I'm trying to get down there either the first or second week of November (round 2 at Esthetic Dental) Haven't booked a flight yet. Sent an e-mail to HLH to see about rooms available first. I spent almost two weeks at HLH last April and really enjoyed the place. I don't really want to stay anywhere else. Anyone happen to know if those weeks are busy or not?

Patriot,

I will be at the SL from November 4-19. I'm sure you'll see me. Even though I (happily) will not see you. Heh heh heh heh.

I owe you a beer and a shot of tequila, if nothing else. I'm hoping to check out a couple venues that I have either missed in the past, or haven't visited in many years. Pirate Club, Eros, Relax, calle 6 and your favorite spot, Pucho's. :P

BTW, I'll be up on the second floor of the "new" section, which ain't all that new anymore. Let us seek poontang together, my friend!

Saludos,

Paul

Count me in for Pirates Club, Eros and Relax. What/Where is Pucho's? Never heard of it. I wish my Espanol was better because I always enjoy El Pueblo.
I've lost track of the number of places I've been and would like to get back to.

BTW I plan on remaining coherent, or at least semi-coherent, on my first day. Yeah right :D :D :D :D :D

Keep it quiet while on the second floor because I think that is where I'll be.

We've go to get to Donde Es Cerdo, commonly known as Pork Chop Hill. 6 to 8 people and it is a blast. Blame Boudmon for reminding me where it is.   If nothing else Mirador Ram Luna with our favoritas. Besides Ram Luna is just before Donde Es Cerdo.

Thank god for trip reimbursements. :!:  :!:

patriot,

Pucho's is almost across the street from Bar Idem, actually a bit northwest on the diagonal, west side of the street. You'll like it. The girls there all have antennae. "Chicas con una sorpresa gratis," if you catch my drift.

I had forgotten about Pork Chop Hill! Damn! I certainly want to go there. Ram Luna with the favorita is a decidedly delightful prospect, or we could step up one level and hit El Monasterio, equal or better views and I've been told, better food. Expensive cab ride up the hill, though. Wince.

Don't worry about the noise, except perhaps the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth. They always react that way when they see me naked. Some even vomit.

Pablo, I had the pleasure of meeting with you and talking with you at the SL in July. Your Spanish is excellent, and you are a true gentleman, and obvious to me that you are very liked by all of the chicas. Lastimo, I won't be there for your Nov. trip, but will be there the first part of Jan. Hope to catch up with you sometime. Buy you a beer. Not at Puchos.

I've been to La Monasterio. Food is not worth what you pay for it:$150.00 for 2 people including wine and drinks. Of course the lobster bisque was a little off the wall but what else can you expect for French Cuisine. Still it is the best French restaurant in CR.
I think the views are better from Ram Luna, especially from the deck outside, but it could have been the table I had at La Monasterio. What can I say, the ex and I were celebrating our 4th anniversary so I decided to splurge. Of course that was 3 years ago so I'm sure the prices have gone up since then.
Cab ride isn't too bad, about the same as Pork Chop Hill or Ram Luna. Aseri(sp) isn't that close to the gulch anyway.

Perhaps Boudmon or others can give the name of the Brazilian(?) steak house in Escazu, I think, which everyone raves about. Of course there is always Il Ritorno for Italian.

Hmmmmmmmmm, and I thought I was the only one with that problem with the chicas. Do you get the uncontrollable laughter leading to the tears too?

Finally got squared away with HLH. will be there from 11/9 to 11/19. There was one night during that week with nothing available except a 200.00 a night suite. They are letting me stay that one night in it for for half price. Won't be too bad at all, paying cash helps too :D

Patriot,

The Brazilian steak house is called "Fogo Brasil." It's a Brazilian barbecue, where the waiters bring out cuts of meat on long skewers, and you take your pick. Food is quite good...but we experienced service in the following sequence:

Round 1: Lomito, really nice steak cuts, chicken breast

Round 2: Flank steak, chops, lesser cuts of beef

Round 3: Sausages were the main offerings on the skewers

Round 4: "Would you care for a delicious bakery roll, senor?"

You get the idea. From my one experience there, it seems that they make their profit in the above manner, plus placing a high price on sides and beverages, much of which are extra. Maybe all of which are extra. Don't remember; it's been 3 years. Worth the visit, though.

And they had a one-man band sax player playing *beautifully* over Kenny G. tracks...

"Noventa y Cinco punto cinco... jazz. Lights out, Costa Rica..."

<cue Kenny G. tune>

Finished off emails for work and decided to see what was going on. Semi bored too.
I'd like to suggest we all meet at the SL on Thursday night, listen to Radio Dos live braodcast during happy hour and then head out to dinner and then Pirates Club or elsewhere. Open to other suggestions too.

As I said in another post I'll make sure I have on my Prague T-Shirt so you'll recognize me. Either that or I"ll be the one sleeping on a couch in the bar. ( I've been on the road since Sept 20 for work.) So

I NEED THIS TRIP

Hello all,
First trip to CR. Short notice that I was going (long story). I've done some reading here so I know the general idea. But, I would like to meet up with someone that knows the ins & outs. I will gladly buy you a drink or two... Also, maybe a suggestion for a first place to go... I will be there starting on Oct. 31
Thanks,
