The xe.com site is pretty well in the ball park. I use it often.
When getting colons in cash I still use the ATM in the HDR. One beside the front desk.
Convenient and safe. Unless u flash cash around in the air

It is the site of the Central Bank of Costa Rica and posts the rate of every licensed exchange entity in the country. If during the day they change the rate they last reported they must advise the central bank who change the number on the website.

Take note of Casa de Cambio Global Exchange who operate the exchange booth in the arrival area of the SJO airport.

And then there are those of us who liked the "ambiance" of the lower (and smaller) area from days gone by when the guys and girls were in much closer proximity and the girls would get "rowdy" and put on impromptu shows for us.
