Valley, my bad did a search for Halloween posts and saw this one without checking the year. Thanks for everyone who responded. Castillo and Morazon didn't have vacancies for every night of my trip(particularly around the 27th) and I haven't read much about Vesuvio other than this topic so I didn't inquire. Should have popped into Vesuvio during my past two stays at Amistad.

Freebird is a short taxi ride from SL, and HlH and is close to the del Rey/key largo, Relax and nearby MPs, and Pantera Rosa, so I'm looking at it glass half full for my upcoming Halloween trip.
Looking forward to meeting the drunken gringos in clown costumes Jawanker writes of!(:

Ok guys, still seeking my first trip. The only weekend that works for me in October is this busy Halloween weekend. I only know the most talked about hotels, DR, SL, HLH, LA. They are all booked. Where can I stay? Need a Chica friendly hotel. Also don't want to stay at a dump. But, if I can't go that weekend, I'll have to wait until the end of November, and really don't want to wait that long. Need to pop my CR cherry! Thx all for all the help.

Extremely slim pickings at this point. Try hotel Vesuvio next too Amistad and Hemingway Inn near HlH and New Fantasy. Both have websites where you can reserve a room. Haven't stayed at either and Vesuvio has received some bad reviews on here but it beats not being there. Best of luck.

Try the hotel Royal Dutch, I believe it's a sister hotel to the Morazan. I was redirected there last year when the Morazan was full. I was surprised with the location and the hotel, it wasn't that bad and a taxi will have you where you wanna go in no time.

Did you try Castillo, Morazan, Hemingway (ask for Pilar), or the Dunn Inn?

Also, keep checking the main ones - get yourself on the waiting list at SL or HLH or HLA. People do cancel at the last minute even for Halloween so you might get lucky.

On another thread I thought I saw someone just got a room at the Castillo. I thought they were full but maybe had some cancellations.

That was me I think, yes, called Tuesday and Darren hooked me up with a deluxe garden room for $60 w/bfast starting on Monday the 29th, not sure what it looks for the 27th which is when the holiday is apparently celebrated
