I am going back to Boston Saaturday for a few days. I am finally getting to use my miles but now I am concerned about the labor shit going on. They just had to divert a few planes because the seats were coming loose. (does the word sabotage sound familiar?) The problem is that they don't cancel a flight until after the pilot reports a problem,so it is last minute, and in the loose seats debacle you are in the air. Anybody have any ideas?

Perhaps you might want to buy a very very very large term insurance policy with a double indemnity clause.

PM me for details necessary to correctly name me the beneficiary.

Seriously VB i would not be overly concerned. The problem seems to be limited to eight B757 aircraft which were recently retrofitted with new seats. All 8 were grounded pending a check of the installation of the new seats.

Walk :?: :?: :?:

Seriously, go to Nica land this time, and go to Boston in a few months when this is likely to be all sorted out, and AA merged with another airline - while I don't ascribe all sorts of conspiracy theories to what is currently going on, I would take another course of action - then, OTOH, looks like you have your ticket, and unless you are willing to pay a hefty change fee to use it in the future (and somehow - for a guy who bitches about a $1.50 bank fee - while I only know you from your posts - I just get the idea you might be a fee adverse kinda guy     :P :) Speaking of - answer my question in that thread you started - is the bank fee per item on a paper check deposited, or electronic as well) - and if its paper - WYF are you doing using paper checks; use direct deposit) - looks like you are flying :)

Latest info on AA seating problem.

Quote:
3rd American Airlines flight had seats come loose

By DAVID KOENIG
AP Airlines Writer

DALLAS -- American Airlines says passenger seats on a third flight came loose as the plane was airborne, and it's continuing to inspect other jets with similar seating.

The airline acknowledged Tuesday that seats came loose on a flight last week from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Vail, Colo. The same thing happened aboard the same plane Monday and a second plane Saturday, according to the airline.

Separately an American flight on Tuesday from Chicago to London was diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland after a report of smoke in the cabin. An airline spokesman said it turned out to be a faulty cooling fan in an entertainment system, and the plane was expected to continue on to London Tuesday night.

The reports of smoky cabins and seats coming loose during flights raised questions about safety on the nation's third biggest airline. Aviation industry experts said publicity about the problem could make passengers stay away from American and fly on other airlines instead.

The spate of loose-seat reports prompted American to inspect eight of its Boeing 757s that share similar seat assemblies.

Airline spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said an initial review indicated that there could be a problem with the way the seats fit into tracks on the floor of the Boeing 757, but technical teams from the airline "are looking at everything."

Asked if seats had ever come loose on an American flight before last week, Huguely replied, "Not that I'm aware of."

Huguely was adamant, however, in saying that the incidents were not the result of sabotage by workers. American's union employees are unhappy about pending layoffs and cuts in pay and benefits that American has imposed since filing for bankruptcy protection in November. American accuses some pilots of conducting an illegal work slowdown that has caused a jump in canceled and delayed flights.

The problem planes were worked on by several crews in different cities. After seats came loose the first time, a crew in Vail tightened them and the plane made a return flight to Dallas. It flew to Boston later that day, where the seats were tightened again, according to American.

No further problems were noticed until a flight Monday from New York to Miami, which returned to Kennedy Airport. Another plane making a Boston-to-Miami trip on Saturday made an emergency landing in New York after a row of seats came loose in flight.

The seats on both planes had been removed and reinstalled during recent maintenance at an American Airlines maintenance base in Tulsa, Okla., and a Timco Aviation Services facility in North Carolina. In both cases American employees were the last to touch the seats, Huguely said.

A Timco spokesman declined to comment beyond saying that the company is still investigating.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it is looking into the incidents.

I'm completely going flex for this weekend's trip. Going to try and pack everything in a carry on and not book any hotel until I touch the ground in San Jose. I may not get my preferred hotel but at least I won't have to worry about losing any money if AA does cancel my flight.

Just watched the Miami news tonight. A.A. Seems to have problems keeping their seats bolted down to the floor. Also, their own time is down to 57%. I really have to double check A.A.. Flight on my flight trackers when picking up someone at SJO.

Guess I didn't make myself clear....I am in the process of getting my residency here so I have the document that allows me to stay here as long as I want while my application is in process. There don't seem to be any problem bolting down the seats here.Miami appears to be a problem with bolting them down and that's my connection also.

Seeing as to how you are so concerned about the $1.50 charge that Scotia has put on checks being deposited the question is just how many accounts due you have at Scotia? :P

Anyway in the spirit of CRT brotherhood here is your answer.

Scotiabank in Costa Rica Joins The Nickle & Diming Attitude Of Other Banks

A couple of paragraphs on pages 70 and 71 of the March 5, 2012, issue of La Gaceta allows the private bank, Scotiabank, to charge customs us$1.50 for the deposit of every cheque issued by a U.S. bank.

The charge if for deposits to a savings or chequing account and took effect 30 days following the publication, that is to on May 4, 2012

Thanks ID :) :) :)
Looks like I was correct; for the deposit of paper checks - which - with direct deposit, should go the way of the horse and buggy, for many reasons.

Why anyone living in CR would not have direct deposit is beyond me

My point to VB is when you open a thread, and someone has the courtesy to participate respectfully, have the courtesy to answer their question. I don't know about Vegas Bob but feel sure Vegan Bob would have  :P
