That's fine; your money, and certainly your decision :)

2 small points:

The difference between taking the bus and a short cab ride to my hotel is like $25 - maybe I'm getting cheap(er) in my old age, but that's not an insignifican sum - at least to me

Purpose of my previous post was simply to let guys - new guys especially - that there are options to taking a cab - especially the bus (many vetran travelers are unaware of this really good option), as well as sharing a cab, and grabbing one at departures after they let out a fare :)

I hear ya Bario. If I get to where I'm bouncing around quite a bit in and out of CR, I might be more frugal. But seeing how I have only been leaving 1-2 times a year and getting in around 9 I'm tired and just ready to get home. I rarely have to take any taxis around the city as I'm busing it all the time. so it all balances out.

I've only been to SJ twice. Both times I took the Tuasa bus in and out. Very easy and never had a problem.

cheers,
Attila

A 35 minute plane trip from Managua to San Jose, Got a private cab and we settled on $30 to San Pedro. I got in the cab at 5:30 it was heavy traffic all the way in, there was no let up the entire trip. Got to my apartment at 6:45. If I had taken a cab with a meter it would have been an outrageous amount of money due to the traffic. To me this was a bargain. To each his own.

Was just thinking about another reason I like to take a taxi when I come in the evenings. I haven't been speaking any Spanish for a couple of weeks or more when I return and enjoy shooting the shit with the taxi drivers on the way back home. A good little transition back to gabbing in Spanish.
