Just spent 7 night at the LA & never once heard the train whistle in the morning. In the past, despite the crossing guards I would be woken up at 6 or 7 am a morning or 2 by the whistle but not this trip. Nothing like a good nights sleep[ after a grueling day of eating, drinking, watching football & being with chicas 35 yrs. my junior!!!

still love the amistad beds after all these years. hang out at the bar at least once a trip. fun watching all the prowlers climbing up and down the stairs in search of prey while matt regales me with the latest stories. as long as they aren't about me

Only problem with the Amistad is the platforms that the mattress is on....I've banged my legs so many times going around the end of the bed that I had bruises for a month I think. Maybe I'm in too much of a hurry...don't know...but that's the only place that has bed platforms like that where I've had that problem.

But in spite of that small issue...it's a great place to stay. I'm sure I'll be back there sometime.

I stayed once and asked to be relocated to the other side. I have stayed in most of the rooms and found that side too noisy because it faces the tracks. Sometimes the trains will set off car alarms.

SL fan but couldn't get my room this time. Staying at LA. Want a $69 room--not to concerned with noise. Any suggestions for a room on 1st or 2nd floor with a large "window".

God, no! I like LA precisely because it isn't SL!

EL O, what I meant is the only thing I would like to see change at the LA is the ownership, nothing else!!

heading to La Amistad for superbowl - got 4 nights......penthouse deal.........anyone know which room of those would be optimum for great jacuzzi action and quiet sleeping? I understand they have a loft in one of the pents.......whats that all about?

Looking to take a run to pork chop hill - heard good things about that place - fun afternoon....anybody interested?

The one penthouse at the very top of the hotel is a really nice room...sauna, jacuzzi, outdoor balcony. It's a bitch to climb the stairs though, especially if you've had a few. I was less than impressed with the amount of light you get in the morning, I like my room dark to sleep.
