Looking for intel on one either across from Hotel Morazon or a block over from the hotel, on the 2nd floor if I recall correctly - tried a search, but if anyone has any intel, much appreciated :)

Or other suggestions - I do 3 miles+ a day on a treadmill; thats what I'm looking for; nothing fancy

Thanks in advance :)

If you walk up the hill from HLH and turn left toward the DR, there is a gym right there on the left. Never been inside but know several guys who use it.

If it is just while you're on a short trip I don't recommend the gym up from HLH that highly. Worked out there for about 3 months but they are closed all day Sunday, only 3 hours on Saturday and quite a number of times I went by and the worker had gone out for a break or something, thus screwing my workout for the day. I guess I was spoiled too, because I was paying 14,000 colones per month for a nice, modern gym in Jaco: Platinum. The gym here was 19,000 with it's limited facility and hours. Only 1 treadmill Scuba1. That is not so much a problem if you just figure out slow times of the day, of which there are many. Like I say, for long term I definitely don't recommend it. If it is just for a trip it probably wouldn't be so bad.

Thanks TW and all others - I'm still all ears :)

No one knows the deal on the gym near the Morazon, or is there a gym near it; across or one block over? I thought sure I remember one - or am I zoning out

PS I know me; if it is not close - like a block or 3 close - I'm not gonna go

Never really look for a gym while I am there, guilty of not even going to the gym by my house in over a year, but I could of sworn I saw on on Avenida Central. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Multi-Spa had a location across from Parque Central a block and a half south of Avenida 2 not far from the location of the old Park Hotel. I don't think they are there any more but its possible another outfit moved in. It was a bit pricey but was the best gym downtown with good cardio equipment, spinning classes and weight room on multiple levels.

The old Parque Central Multi-Spa closed about four months ago (being replaced with more upscale facilities currently under construction in Tibas and Escazu).

The Parque Central gym, however, has reopened in the last couple weeks under new management. It is no longer a Multi-Spa installation despite the sign out front. They have re-upholstered the machines, repainted the walls, but still have problems with occasional lack of hot water in the showers. It probably remains the best option for someone looking for a gym in El Centro (5 block walk from Morazon).

I don't know about daily or weekly rates. 25k is the monthly (20k with senior discount).

Non-Guests can use the pool and gym area (covered but outside) at the Hotel San Tomas just across the street from Bar Poas. I've never used the exercise equipment but have gone there a few times to nurse a hangover by the pool.

Does this place have a sauna? Was just wondering since they allowed guests for the pool and exercise equipment at a fee. Chilly these last couple of days and would like to get some heat and sweat a bit. Any other place right around the SL area that does other than the hotel rooms that have them?

2k colones/day, has a nice mix of gear inside, can't remember the equip brand but all the machines are white in color and use olympic style weights. it's nowhere near polished and fancy inside, but plenty of machines and 45lb bars, smith rack and a good assortment of dumbbells - db's are in kilos so make sure you note the conversion of your current db weights from lbs to kilos. upstairs has a dance floor that I do my ab work and stretching on, 2 crappy treadmills and those choppy eliptical machines that I hate, they always tear my knees up from the rapid bouncy rotation. they have a rough shower and what could be considered a locker room, but I wouldn't use it, just toss my crap in a backpack and put the pack up on the rack by the front desk. bring your own sweat towels too

I sure do, 3+ miles a day, 6 days a week, and have for the past 15 months - I need to stay in shape for our threesome (you know; you, me, and Evelin  )
