Wondering which airlines some of the west coast folks use. I used to be an Orlando guy and flew the nonstop JetBlue whenever I wanted a trip, and 2.5 hours later I was in the land of milk and honeys.

But I've since moved to Sin City, and holy hell, every flight is like 2-3 stops and 11 hours of travel time. Wondering if vets knew a route that I'm not finding. Who do you guys fly? I'd prefer a flight out of Vegas, but going to LAX is not out of the question. Thanks for the help.

I'm not a west coast guy, but I did a search on kayak to see what you're talking about. Most flights from LAS involved 2 stops, but if you're traveling from LAX, all the major airlines only had 1 stop, even TACA was available with a stop in El Salvador.

Try your search on www.kayak.com

TACA had (has?) a great flight non-stop. It left (leaves) in the early AM and arrived at SJO about 9:30 AM. The return left in the afternoon and arrived at LAX about 11 PM.

It was always on time and a pleasure to fly.

Health & happiness to all........

I would give http://www.hipmunk.com a try also. I love the graphical representation especially when you have connections. For me, it has made the Kayak results hard to read. I also like that you are able to pick a return flight first and then see what your options are.

It looks like there are some relatively easy flights for LAS to SJO.

you have to be willing to work the dates now but i still regularly get taca 605/604 out of LA. nontop five and a half hours down and six back. the el salvador stop on 671 i think it is is no more than an hour and a half later and completely doable. all fly out of LAX as taca does not use burbank.
oh yeah it leaves at like 2am so you arrive same day at 9. usually comes back around 5pm so you don't have to wake up early.

From San Diego I would go to Houston, one hour layover, then SJO...easy
LAX has a straight shot flight
PHX has a straight shot flight...so Vegas...to Phoenix, straight on down....

and yeah, nothing beats MCO to SJO Jet Blue...I do that twice per month now

I’ve used the TACA non-stop out of LAX, that was mentioned above, a number of times…great flight as far as timing goes, but the cost has gone up dramatically. Using September 12 thru September 18 (my next visit), the TACA flight is $641. Delta, with a 2 ½ hour layover in Atlanta, is running $511 for the same dates out of LAX. If you fly out of LAS and go through Atlanta, the cost is $548 for the same dates.

I was able to use 35,000 Delta Skymiles plus $50 in taxes to purchase the Delta flight. (The same can be done from LAS). If you have some Skymiles saved up, then Delta is definitely the way to go.

Hope this helps...

30 times or so I've taken the 1:00am redeye on Continental, now United #1254, to Houston where it lands about 5:45am. After a 3 hr. 15 min. layover, I connect to the 9:00am flight # 1096 to San Jose, which lands at sjo a little before noon. I spend most of the layover in the Presidents Club at iah which has some comfy chairs for snoozing & some tasty muffins. Prices for this route & connections vary of course, the lowest price I've seen recently is $511 all in. Never had a flight cancelled, just short delays a couple times leaving Houston until some heavy thunderstorms let up. Returning, I catch a UA flight leaving sjo between 2-4pm, with an hr. or 2 layover in Houston, getting me back home at 10:30pm or so.

my name is sincity & I do live in Las Vegas!

Thanks for the answers so far guys. Sigh, most of the flights are still so unattractive, haha. Redeyes, layovers, ugh. But I like the Delta and United routes. Oh, what we do for the ticas.

I've used TACA multiple times and always had an excellent experience. Last trip I used Copa and that worked out great too. The American carriers, as usual, all suck. Lousy service...lousy everything.
