Hey Guys,

First of all, this website is truley amazing! Thanks to all for the great info!

So I am the best man and making this bachelor trip come to reality! 8) :D
We have a group of 8 and would like your inputs on where to stay, what to do, besides the girls of course  Going sept 27-Oct 1

We initially thought of splitting the trip for 2 nights in San Jose and 2 nights in Jaco...seems like to me everyone on here would rather prefer staying in SJ. We kind of want the beach life in Jaco, question is, is it worth to go out there?

In SJ, we are trying to decide on staying at a hotel (HLH looks great), would try a night at Del Rey but rather have something a bit nicer!
The other option would be to rent out a house/villa/penthouse of some sort..Does anyone have experiences with this? Bringing girls back and all, we'd be under one roof. Not sure i might just want my own room tho

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks guys

With a handle like yours, you should stay at HLH room #221, called Sancho Panza. It's the closest one to the girls (and the bar).

Keep in mind that Jaco beach is pretty much like a cesspool. Playa Hermosa, about 4 miles south ($8 taxi ride each way) is great......BIG surf, clean black sand, surfer dudes and dudesses, no chicas. The chicas are in Jaco, mostly at night, and more expensive than in SJ.

HLH has been hosting many Bachelor Parties recently. I've seen many happy guys so they must know what to do to make it a great experience.

Forgive the sales pitch BUT--if you choose the HLH or some other CRT Sponsor for the whole time in CR, you can save significant bucks by buying individual 1-year memberships for your guys. That way, anybody in the party can come back (and a certain few will) anytime in the next year and save while savoring.
BTW our man at HLH is now Jeff--a hotelier to the core. An email to him now can guarantee space for your group.

lifetime CRT memberships.....what a great gift idea for the groomsmen...trust me, you'll be back.

HLH or SL would be great choices. Del Rey sucks IMO....just visit and pull girls from DR but take them back to HLH/SL. Both HLH and SL have that "frat house" atmosphere going that would be ideal for bach party. You can also get wilder (in the bar area) at HLH and SL than you can at DR. I've seen girls strip down at HLH and dance on the bar...also seen BJ's in the comfy chairs in the corner...that you can't do at DR or even SL for that matter.

La Amistad and Dunn Inn etc...are more chill and low key with non mongers guests staying there also.

HLH and SL both are monger exclusive.

have fun and ride all the rides.

If your looking for other things to do around San Jose besides the girls I highly recommend tropical bungee. Can find a flyer for it near the front door inside hlh. I wouldn't bother with jaco personally the quality of girls is no different and there is less selection than San Jose.

For that short of a trip, I would definitely skip Jaco. While jaco does have some interesting night life, the beach itself is probably one of the worst in all of Costa Rica. I personally would not get in the ocean around Jaco due to all of the sewage runoff there and the beach is, well frankly, pretty dirty.

As far as places to stay, you won't go wrong with either the Sportsmen's or Hotel Little Havana. I would think that HLH might be a bit more conducive to a bachelor party type atmosphere only because they generally ask folks to have a bit of decorum in the public areas of the Sportsmen's while I've seen it get pretty wild at HLH.

It sounds like it's going to be a great party and I second the recommendation for the CRT VIP membership. You will probably save the cost on just room and drink discounts for your first trip.

The thing of it is, is that no decision has to be made about 1-year VIP membership til you get here. Pay and get at the Dunn Inn, protecting the downside (somebody punks out and doesn't make the trip) and the upside (the party gets added to). Check with management of venues but I believe discounts can be retro'd to Day 1. I'd get yours in advance so you can download our Monger Map and research ALL the discounts available (trip to a cigar factory, etc.).
Also ALL should have and read Brother Orange's magnificent Thread on how to act, be safe, etc. etc., in CR--even experienced travellers will benefit: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16357
For that size party, consider seeing if Brother PuraVitaTransport will consider being on retainer: http://www.puravidatransport.com/ << I am not speaking for Brother PVT, just an idea.

Gee, from the title of the thread, I thought the OP was into classical music  :P  :)

Seriously, have to agree with many of the suggestions to skip Jaco for such a short trip :)

Well, Bach did invent or put a high polish counter-point which is kinda what we are to most of the West's men; and Bach was a horndog, so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUPx42UmSng
Now back to the regularly scheduled broadcast...

I appreciate your inputs fellas!
Thanks, and I am planning to purchase the VIP membership, seems the worth!
This trip is about a month away and cant wait!

So its either going to be between HLH or SL, we might even split it and stay 2 nights at each. We definetly want a bachelor party atmosphere!
Another friend recommended staying at Intercontinental, however, that seems a bit too pricey and would take the fun out of living in the heart of San Jose, correct? Ive searched and couldnt find any 'all-inclusive' resorts around San Jose area, any inputs?
We dont mind staying in average-nice places, seems like HLH and SL are just that, DR just seems too shitty...but planning to go there for sure and pull some girls back!

Can someone recommend me on how to include some excursions such as ATV, ziplining, fishing, etc that we could do through the morning till mid-day! Seems like one activity per day as we want to get back in action with the ticas!

If you haven't made reservations @ SL or HLH you better get on the phone ASAP, good luck on getting rooms

I know of no "all inclusive" resorts in San Jose - or Jaco, for that matter - you will not miss them

Any hotel you stay at - SL or HLH - can help you with any excursions you may be interested in. And while some love the place, the HDR is low on my list of favorites for many reasons - stick w/ SL or HLH and you will be doing well.

The recommendation for the Intercontinental is obvioulsy made by someone who is not a monger and not familiar with the gulch, San Jose or pu*sy :P - nice place, but out of the action and doubtful whether you can bring guests back - forget it.

And while its green season, I'd make reservations sooner vs later, starting with Sportsmans. :)

Intercontinental is not conducive to our hobby or to bachelor parties. Think Sheraton, Hilton, etc. in the US - hotel caters to business travellers and well-heeled tourists. It's also located faaaar awaaaay from the Gulch action spots.

Sounds like you're trying to cram in a lot of activities in a 4 day trip - Jaco, ATV, ziplining, fishing, hunting for ticas, nicas, dominicanas, colombianas, and other working chicas of various nationalities. Whew!

All of those activities are do-able as day trips. But except for the volcano and coffee tours, it would be a pretty long day. PM PuraVidaTransport for more details about those.

HLH and SL are both average/nice places by San Jose standards, but San Jose is nothing like *random city* USA. Costa Rica is a developing country, so you might be taken aback by the general conditions of the streets, structures, sidewalks, etc., the first time you roll into the neighborhoods where you'll be staying and hunting chicas. It took me about a day to acclimatize my first visit. That said, I think splitting your days between HLH and SL is a good idea. However, I caution you about booking a courtyard room at SL. The rooms there open directly to the bar area (i.e. no stairs or hallways, minimal privacy) so be prepared to listen to the goings on in the bar until it shuts down around 12am (and vice versa, letting the bar know what you're up to in the room).

As for side trips, I highly recommend white water rafting on the Pacuare River. It's a long day (you have to get going at 6:30am and won't return until after 4 or 5pm) but it's a total blast, possibly the most fun I've ever had in my life. I used Exploradores for a tour that I set up though the SL concierge. Warning, you may be so tired upon returning that you require actual rest before going out partying.
