We would like to book the luxury suite and a deluxe double room at The Dunn Inn in January for ourselves and another couple. We will be staying at the SL the week prior to that but thought the Dunn Inn would be a better choice when our friends arrive as they are a little more conservative then we are. Here are my questions that I would appreciate some help with :D

1. Does the Dunn Inn have AC and if not would we need it in January? :?
2. Is the luxury suite a good choice? We have heard the window does not open in that room, and is it a noisy room? :?
3. What would be the best deluxe double room in that hotel to book. :?

We would prefer to book them into the Mansion Wing of the SL, but are not sure if that would be a good idea or not. They seem pretty hang loose, but we just are not sure how hang loose. 8)

No AC needed.

The suite there overlooks the bar, big and nice.

Some rooms have AC-- some don't . Personally I like AC in my room. If you book, just ask.

I would recommend Hotel Santo Tomas for your friends. Nicer rooms than done inn. Limit of one chica and does have $15 chica fee. Just about a block away from done inn. It tries to be a non monger hotel.

And an added benefit to Santo Tomas is that it has a great little, pool, gym and hot tub in the garden area. The restaurant is supposed to be good but I've never eaten there. And you can stagger home from Bar Poas.

My GF is a travel consultant and very dicriminating when it comes to hotels (thankfully for me not so much when it comes to men  ) so she will enjoy comparing the two. Hotel Santo Tomas may be the better choice. We will be staying on another week though and as a CRT member thinking about the discount and possibility of a weekly rate at the Dunn Inn.

Taz (and yes, I did read the threads) if you have any plans to bring in a guest (or anyone else reading this) check directly w/ the hotel - their policy has gone back and forth on this subject - no personal knowledge, but looks like a nice hotel in a good location, as well as one of the few with a pool

Just got back from sjo. One night I took my favourita to the Dunn Inn for dinner. The restuarant and sports bar are very nice and the food above par.

Next night I ask my favourita where she wants to go for dinner. She said the Dunn Inn, I asked why?
She said the staff treated her like a human being not a puta. She tells me at certain establishment (dr) some of the bar staff treats the putas like a piece of shit.

The Dunn Inn will get most of my business in the future.

cheers,
Attila

Looks like they're not doing too good of a job.

This is a great place to take a date to dinner. With two locations to eat, either the sports bar or the dinning room. The dinning room is formal and lends itself to a romantic dinner with not distractions form TV's or Music. Great place to talk. The sports bar is casual and an entirely different atmosphere. Most of my dates are none working girls and they all love this place and the service. Service is above par for San Jose. The wait staff is attentive and very friendly.

I think the people that slam the Dunn Inn should put foot in mouth. I used to stay there all the time, and had nothing but a pleasant experience. You should take your posts about Done Inn and delete them. This is a good place. They just needed to remove a bad apple. In fact, I think he is booted from this entire country. This gringo is happy he is gone.

The DI is a good option, are they still a crt sponsor? Other than items stolen once from my stored luggage (which also happened at the Presidente) enjoyed my stays and the staff as well.

The Dunn Inn is still a CRT sponsor, who knows the whole Boyd thing, but it is a real moot point now. We all wish Boyd well {at least some of us} wherever he is, but I have only have had good experiences at the DI.
