Have had the privilege of hanging out with a number of different ethnic groups here in CR including people of Asian, African, and Indian decent and I haven't found much racism. Closest I came was a Filipino guy who looked almost Nicaraguan. Seemed to get the cold shoulder until he opened his mouth and they knew he was an American then it was all good with every girl he spoke with. Tico vs. Nica racism is alive and well....trust.
Asian and Indian guys seem to have an advantage in the 'exotic' category in looks as they are on average younger and/or fitter than your NWM (normal white monger). Or, perhaps as a group, the are viewed as treating the girls better or are more generous than your NWM, I don't know. I've just seen too many examples of girls asking me (a NWM) to say good things to my friends because they like their race... Might be something similar to how certain guys like Latinas or Asians or the blonde/blue Eastern European beauties.
In my experiences with gentlemen of African decent, I've heard few stories of a girl turning them down outright...but it has happened. Many in Costa Rica are prejudice towards people of African decent but it seems to be more social/economical in that the lower class, which face the facts many of these girls are, do not have that prejudice as they are more likely to accept others within their social/economic 'circle' here in CR, perhaps living in closer proximity and seeing the color of the skin doesn't make any difference. Conversely, I have seen girls that really liked African descended men. Won't mention names, but there are at least two at HLH right now that have had black boyfriends from Limon at one point or another.
Outside those rare girls with rare tastes (like the girl that refused me DATY the other night but really wanted me to hook her up with my Asian freinds
), the racism isn't an important factor here and more often than not will work in a guys favor as it is different than the average monger that walks through the door of Del Rey. Think the shape, cleanliness and overall attitude is a lot farther ahead in their minds than color of the skin.
Do keep in mind, use of race may be a selling factor for these girls then the real feelings are no where to be found. The girl that knows if she just gushes all over a guy because of his race may boost his ego enough he selects her. There is ALWAYS an angle one way or the other...
As for any worries anyone of any color has about finding plenty of girls in Costa Rica...put it out of your mind. You will have a great time with any number of Latina beauties! But one final word, bald guys seem to do best of all, no matter the race
