Found a great e-fare on LASCA so I booked it then found out the Hotel Presidente is booked solid. Tried the Sportsman but they only had some of the nights I needed so I booked them for the last two days of my trip, after I come back from Jaco

The first four nights I booked in Gran Via, based on information on this forum and their website and physical location. The rate they gave me for a large, balcony room is $44.25 plus tax per day and includes breakfast - pretty good.

I've read that they are 'guest' friendly - I certainly hope so.

In Jaco the 6th-10th and booked the Paradise at the CRT discount rate - no problem, e-mailed right back with the confirmation and rate.

After spending almost half of the last year in Thailand, I am really looking forward to the hot passion of Costa Rica!

I think that would be an OK rate for a newcomer to the hotel for a 4 night stay except for one thing. The plus tax makes it outrageous. Suggest you email the manager (Alvero) and negotiate a rate without the tax and be sure to have them put a mini fridge in your room.

Balcony rooms can be noisy especially on the lower floors. 6 floor - good, 7 floor - better, 8 floor - best. My favorite room was 804.
