Apologize if this has been over analyzed in other threads and appreciate your inputs.
Past couple of times stayed at Amistad - now debating between Dunn's Inn, HLH and SL.
Thanks in advance. Govi

if you have stayed at amistad a couple of times didn't you get the chance to see SL and HLH?

you're a big help

thats not a legit question? the op says he stayed at amistad twice and SL is within eye sight of the front door/ it would stand to reason he checked it out but maybe not who knows? hence the question.

Basically, what "vibe" do you want this trip...

Amistad- class, monger freiendly, good service, but not a total monger scene..So close, but feels like your away from the madness..

HLH- Living inside a massage parlor. This is the madness (in a great way)..it IS the action, great service also....point, shoot, score..

SPortsmans- Think a boys club with hookers at the bar...also great service, party central.... Best rooms are the ones in the back, front rooms VERY noisy..

To come to the defense of Diablo (whose knows I have been critical of him in the past) there was nothing wrong with his response, just a simple thought..Why it was critiqued is beyond me..

Thanks - appreciate the responses. The reason I posed this question was Dunn Inn was not the hotspot then; (it has been a couple of years) and it looks like off late it has been a rather vibrant place. I felt comfortable staying at Amistad because of what is articulated here, monger friendly, but a few feet away from the actual action. This time I was actually making a reservation at SL; but wanted to get some opinion on Dunn Inn and HLH as I am hearing quite a bit about new management, etc.

Again, thanks for the responses.

Confirmed by reservation at SL.
Looking forward to making new friends from the board here and reconnecting with some old ones.

I'll be in town July 18-25 to celebrate my birthday. Meeting up with a friend from Los Angeles who I met in CR a few years ago. After staying exclusively at the SL for 10 trips, I stayed at Amistad Superbowl weekend and its now my preference. The basic rooms are newer and nicer than SL, cost about the same after the CRT discount, and calls to the US, laundry, and breakfast (including eggs and meat) are included. The penthouse and studio rooms are also significantly cheaper than comparable SL rooms. I saved about $150-$200 just on phone calls. Looking forward to it.

Bunda Man - Happy Birthday - allow me to buy you a drink to celebrate your birthday. I will be staying at SL between Wed 7/18 and Sunday 7/22 - look forward to saying hi. I am an Indian guy (from India) about 40 years and hopefully you can spot me and will stop by and say hi. Looking forward to meeting some old friends.

Govi, sorry i'm gonna miss your trip. I have stayed twice at SL and once at HLH on my trips and have had a great time on all 3 trips. Bill, aka True Sportsman is the owner of SL and a very nice guy to guests, newbie mongers and veterans alike. He has always greeted me as a friend who hasn't been seen in a while.

Just to add something, my savings on trip #3 during memorial day weekend this year was $188 when i switched from SL to HLH, and the money was well spent. Not to worry, because SL and HLH are walking distance to each other. The walk uphill can be hard thoughgoing back to SL if you are a bit out of shape or haven't done any steep incline walking in a while.

As far as getting to the SL, there is a link in the transportation section for the Costa Rica Shuttle, that runs from the airport to SL, and it costs $14.25 and can be reserved from the US, being it is a US run company.

Hope these tidbits of information help.

Thanks Govi, I'll look for you. I hang at the SL a lot during the day and should be wearing a Yankees cap. Have a great trip.
