Today's "La Prensa Libre" reports that the Greengo I reported murdered at Hotel Comet in Jaco Sunday night was in fact a Canadian, 60 year old named Ferg Gravel. Shot 3 times in the chest. But see later post, now considered a suicide. 3 bullets in the chest self inflicted?

Investigation continues into death of Canadian
Full Article Published in Diario Extra on Jul 10, 2012

A man found with dead after three gunshot wounds to the chest at a hotel in Jaco has now been identified as a Canadian national, age 60. Police have eliminated robbery as the motive for the shooting as none of the victim’s valuables were removed from the scene.

From Tico Times:13 July 12: "A 60-year-old Canadian was found dead in Jacó, on the central Pacific coast, the QMI Agency reported Thursday night.

Serge Gravel’s family told the news service that the victim was found with three bullet wounds in his chest. Denise Gravel, Serge’s sister, told QMI Agency that authorities have ruled the death a suicide, even though he was shot three times. Denise Gravel said she does not believe the story, and hoping a further investigation continues. Gravel said her brother moved to Costa Rica after retiring in January"

I suppose it could be possible (fly trigger automatic) but....

If I ever want to murder someone I just learned the perfect way. Take them to Jaco and put 3 bullets into their chest leave the gun close by. OIJ will say suicide. :P

Good point ID. Not sure it was OIJ which I always was led to believe was straight and competent. Not true?

Life is never simple and death even more so. Any rookie cop will tell you it is not possiable to hit yourself
three times in the chest. I have been shot twice in the leg it was a mother. The recoil from the pistol and the force of a bullet striking your chest an impossibility with out mechanical device.

Unless they are totally corrupt from the person or persons who shot him. I would pray it's miss information and not
total incompetence.

OBI-
They may be corrupt, but to their credit, they won't have to waste all that time doing paperwork and all that extra investigating-which can be so tedious

Anybody else getting the feeling that this might be James M. Cain-like hardboiled fiction come to life? Plot's been sketched in by Greengo; a good roman noir writer can fill it in. I'm not playing on the gent R.I.P. but this has a what's-the-motive?/locked-room-puzzle aura to it
