Is it time for an itermission :?: ... cut to the video

Customer is King: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fPybfTa ... re=related

I am my car
I am my clothes
I am my bank account
I am my house

I obey my thirst
I have it my way
I just Do It !!!

I deserve a break today
I double my pleasure, double my fun
I live the high life
Because I’m worth it

I’m looking out for #1
I wait for nothing
I have a million choices

I get what I want
I do what’s best for me
I spend my time where I want to spend my time
No one waste it but me

I have the world at my finger tips
If it doesn’t work I’ll throw it out and get a new one
If I’m uncomfortable I’ll leave
There’s another place just down the street

If I’m unhappy I’m missing something
I find it, I buy it
If I want it I get it

I accumulate, I collect
I acquire, I take, I use
I devour, I consume

I am not the center of the Universe
But I’m the center of mine!

I want to know what’s in it for me
I want to know…. What I get out of it

I’m here to find happiness
I live for comfort
I exist to be served
The world exist to serve me

I am the customer
The customer is king
I Am King …

I've stayed in La Amistad probably 10 times over the last 2 years and love it. And personally I LOVE the train because it drowns out the sound of Matt's BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!!

I think the LA is a great place, and based upon the response of management, I will most certainly stay again. I am also glad that the origional poster choose to write his post; I think we should encourage the writing of such information, even about our sacred cows. It promotes our ability to make informed choices, and can help to provide a good feedback loop to the managers and owners of said hotels, resteurants, ect.

In fact, the reason that I most respect Bill of the SL is BECAUSE o the way he responds to problems; problems happen everywhere.

Thank you Hank Daman. I believe that 100%. I don't think there should be any censorship of opinions on people, hotels, restaurants, etc as long it is done in a polite way. :D

Hi Everybody, I appreciate everyones support and feedback on my OP. That is exactly what this board is for. Once again I apologize that I took 5 months to say something. I meant to say something right when i got home, but I had such a great time staying at HLH that it helped me forget about LA Amistad. I never thought for a minute it would stir up this much action on the board. Anyways the horse is dead now, buried, theres no reason to keep digging it up and trying to kill it again.

Not wanting to beat this poor horse anymore.. but I wanted to offer one suggestion for any possible future visits. I tend to book rooms quite far in advance and knowing the way things work in CR I usually phone a week or two ahead of my visit to confirm the booking directly with Rudy or Carlos themselves. That way, if they had an 'opps!' moment before, they have some time to fix it or find alternate arrangements before I get off the plane.

I also just want to add my support to the LA. I've stayed there several times now and, yes, I have seen lots of little mistakes being made, but Matt, Rudy and Carlos all go to great lengths to make your stay a pleasurable one. Hell, Rudy is the "go to" guy you want to see for anything from a fishing charter to getting someone to deliver an order of McDonalds to your room :)

Things will get phucked up and not go according to plan, all you can do is check, doublecheck, confirm and then reconfirm.

As far as La Amistad, I was on the third floor and walking up and down was starting to get tiring. Besides that I liked the hotel, complimentary breakfast and phone, Matt even bought me a beer while I was sitting in the lobby.

After a few more beers, we headed to the bar next to Castillo for a few more. Then to Chubbs for a bucket, and finally at Del rey for a nite cap and a Dominicana named RossyLinda. We drank some more back at the hotel till 4am, and my flight was at 7am.

Things will get phucked up.

Poster had a bad experience, point made and explained albeit not to everyones liking apparently.

I for one have stayed there numerous times over the past several years, (maybe 25+) intoduced many a wing to LA, and aside from some train noise dependent on what side of the hotel your on, I have always had a great experience.

Rudy and Carlos have always been helpful and friendly providing me with everything from free room upgrades dependent on availability to running interferance when an unexpected chica shows up and i'm in the room entertaining with another.

Breakfast is included and always excellent, free calls to the US come in really handy as well as does the free laundry service.

It's a clean, comfortable, convenient and affordable hotel close to but not right in the action.

I don't question the posters bad experience but I would suggest he give them another shot, request a room away from the train tracks and allow them to make it up to him.

If he chooses not to, I would understand but I for one, will continue to utilize this hotel as my trips are often last minute and with that being the case, I can never get a room at SL.

Pura Vida!

Jac

Just have to make a few observations:

1. Mistakes happen we are all fallible
2. When they do happen complaints are best addressed to those that can make recompense
3. Recompense was offered when the problem came to Matt's attention
4. This is one tough crowd :P

My last stay at LA Rudy was always very helpful and accommodating in every way and when I asked Matt for a quite room to prepare for a colonoscopy  he gave me a suite with two bathrooms for the price of a standard room because he had the availability. 8)

Nice people combined with good location and accommodation makes for a winning combination

Matt - thanks for your comments!! Unfortunately you were placed in a situation where you had to react several months after the fact! Had the OP discussed this originally with the hotel feeling how he did and within a reasonable amount of time, this could have been handled more proactively -

I have stayed at LA twice (unfortunately the last time I was sick for 7 of a 10 day trip) and am getting ready to confirm my reservations for 2 weeks in February.

Well after the fact, and completely irrelevant now in the grand scheme of things, I am nevertheless going to comment about it because it's been bumped and I think a comment is deserved about the larger issue. The people on the board were so eager to demonize either one party or the other for what appears to be nothing more than their own entertainment. The OP brought up an issue, as he should have (Hank phrased it perfectly). Matt responded properly and professionally, as did Rudy. It's hard to fix things that long afterwards, but the OP expressed himself as satisfied and the hotel management owned up to its mistake. No business is without errors, and it's rational to expect to be on the wrong end of one at times. We all know this. The board members pulled things far to the left and right of where they needed to be, and we should learn to shelve some of the manufactured vitriol and instead take away the real information that was gleaned from the experience.

I commend the OP (whom I do not know) for bringing it to everyone's attention. It makes us aware of the need to think of contingencies if nothing else. I commend Matt for running a quality establishment. I"ve stayed at the Amistad a number of times and have nothing but good things to say bout the people and the service there. I hope that the OP will give the hotel another chance and that the hotel will bend over backwards making his next visit his best ever.
