I also recommend SayHi. It's pretty cool. I like Ultralingua for dictionary lookups. Both can work without an Internet connection.

So many Latinas, so little time...

Jazz, what is the quality of translation if you know? I am using google and it's OK, especially if you use short sentences.

Can't personally vouch--my clam-shell dates from the turn of the century. Here's what others say:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdM43OmEkl8 << vid of use
http://appadvice.com/appnn/2012/04/sayh ... -its-value

If it does 1/3 of what's said, it's a screaming bargain.

Scientists need to come up with a brain implant that can translate any language on the spot! You must admit I am a genius!

Tourist -

I was in CR in January and was very successful using itransalte+ from iTunes. Translator and Tranzilla from iTunes are also very similar.

Used them at HDR, HLH & SL. Just do a search in iTunes and you will find many such apps. Watch out, some you have to pay for each translation and some you need to be connected to wi-do in order to use. I uses the free wi-fi at both HLH & SL with no problems,

I also use Google Translate on my iPhone, and it works quite well, although like all translators, sometimes it returns the literal translation instead of the cultural translation, so it is not entirely accurate.

Agreed Gringotim, but the 2-3 times I used it with a chica, we had a blast, both on my android phone and on my laptop using the net. Goes to show that if you make it interesting for both of youu, the chicas will do more sometimes, depending on the chica, but in my 3 trips, 3/4 of the chicas will put out 100% because you hit it off, leaving the other 1/4 who don't care either way.
