Calichies Wishbone Get Calichies poky if you like raw tuna.

If you want a cheap lunch turn left heading north right past the beatle bar.
1000 colones for a good lunch huge beers for 500 colones. This is a local tico place cheapest place i could find in Jaco with good food. If you like pizza try big bambu pizza upstairs they have a special 2 pieces of pizza and a coke for 900 colones.

Will be in Jaco for 5 nights mid May, any recommendations on good seafood, steak or others.

I arrived in Jaco on a Saturday night. Lots of restaurants were reasonably full. On Sunday night many were empty. I walked pretty much the entire length of Jaco Sunday night and noticed crowds mainly at the Colonial, Pacific Bistro and El Tabacon. This unofficial pole has a margin of error of +-100%.

The Colonial is a fancy open air place that looks like it is designed to trap tourist. It is a nice place though and the sea bass was good. One of the other two places is right across the street (I use to have a memory). I took a chica from the Beatle Bar there late and they were still serving food. But just had a burger FWIW.

There were amazingly few bars actually on the beach. I watched one sunset at El Bohio while sitting at the bar. Interesting mix of locals and expatriates. I chatted with some expats, swapped buying rounds and stayed too long and got hammered. I did not eat there though.

There are lots of nice restaurants along the main street. I only regret I didn't have time to try more of them.

Pancho Villas has some good food, too.

MidnightRider,
While sitting at the little bar at El Bohio you didn't happen to meet an ex-pat named Clint, did you? He's about 68 and lives next door to the bar.

The best restaurant in Jaco...the Terraza el Hicaco. I've eaten there many times. It's right on the ocean, in the southern part of Jaco.
Actually you can eat in either the main building, which is open-air, or
at a table under the stars next to the beach. The food is fantastic, but it is expensive (for CR).

I'll second the motion for Terraza el Hicaco as one of if not the best restaurant in Jaco. And I'm cheap so if I'm going to pay good money for food it damn well better be great. Absolutely superb!!!

El Hicaco and Wishbone's are both nice. I also like to have something light in the afternoon at El Bohio or Claritas on the beach, while watching the ocean. Whenever it is open( I think just Fri & Sat now) , the Pacific Bistro has excellent food, but it's BYO. Also, El Barco has an excellent mixed cerviche
