Dead on the bed\this story just begs for it...

"...was dead at least eight hours before he was found."
"...it was the escort who advised hotel security of what had just happened."
"...a mixture of "boner" pills, traces of cocaine that was found in the room and anticipation of what to come..."

"Clouseau, get to the bottom of this immediately!"
"OUI, messier commisioner!"

Eight hours or just happened? The delay was due to the escort's own investigation involving a lengthy erection inspection.
The pastillitas? They were actually pinga pills and it was rogaine (mixed with Geritol), not cocaine.
Case closed. Next!

It took the whore 8 hours to go through every inch of his room to see what she could steal.

Always lots of jokes with guys on dying having sex. The more I think about it, what a lonely way to go. No friends or family just a girl you are paying to be with you. Then the family and friends at home hear how you passed. Not a very nice memory for them.

Well we are all born alone and we all die alone if you really think about it unless you are in a plane crash, but does that really make it better?

If it was a long illness where he was dying from cancer being alone would be bad but just having a heart attack is relatively quick.

Agree it does kind of suck for his relatives especially if he has K*ds. We always had a code at the Viking resort that if anyone died we would take them to the regular tourist hotel so they could tell his family he was there lol.

To tell you the truth, I'd rather be with a DR queen at my last breath than my family,
especially if sex was involved

truth is that securitty knew that they had a customer dead upstairs and didn't call the police because the bar would be closed for some time,(930pm on a weekend) so they wait till morning.. It is all about making money not respect for the customers at the del rey...some may not like what I say>> but you tell me why they not call the police?????

Makes more sense than any other theory proposed so far. If there's one thing all of us know, the Del Rey is all about making money.

I agree with previous comments of Bariomarca, “what a lonely way to go” and Horhey “it does kind of suck for his relatives especially if he has K*ds.” I love mongering and I could be the next. We can never predict when will be our time, but if I could, I would prefer to go out near dear ones, not at HDR. Just my opinion.

Aside from this tragedy and/if whomever he hurt back home, let this serve as a reminder to always buy the the travel insurance that includes emergency medical evac and repatriation coverage, repatriation is what they call sending your body back. Cheap insurance, about $30-40 which also covers all of the usual other non consequential pains like lost bags, delays, etc. Last few times I have been using a Co called MEDEX but there are others online, just read carefully. Not all of them cover med evac and repatriation.

If he did leave loved ones who had to endure the double wammy of his death and if/then they also learned of the reported circumstances, then they are also in for the triple whammy of paying to get his body home, app $15-17k, which I know from experience. And it ain't easy nor quick, 7-10 days easy, getting him out of the morgue to an embalmer, buy a coffin, all kind of consular paperwork to get the consul seal on the custom made pine shipping box around the coffin, getting the box/body via limo or whatever to the airport, astronomical cost of air freight, and then transport to the funeral home in North America.

And that's if you have somebody in CR that will do all of this for you without charge. How's that for a heart ache at home.

Med Evac, unless you don't mind CR medical care when you are in critical condition, is about 7-10x that cost.

I know we all think we are bullet proof, or don't think about it all, human nature. I never did. Let this poor soul's passing be a reminder. Buy the insurance, and make sure you let someone you know you have the insurace with the policy # and the 800 number in case you are non compes mentes or dead.

You didn't burst my bubble, that's why I said by the insurance. I know most Ticos don't get embalmed and are buried quick in non-autopsy cases, maybe for financial reasons? And it is the same in the US--nobody is going to get embalmed without some sort of payment or contract in advance. If his family wanted him home, they have to have pay for that in advance which is the point about repatriation coverage.

My situation was from USA to Poland. An employee died in a wreck. Like him, the gent at the DR was probably going to be autopsied by the CR Authorities as is the law in my state and probably all in cases of an accident, or suspicious "unnatural death". Like Whitney Houston in CA. That ususally takes a day or two even in big American cities, no clue about how long in CR.

My hunch is CR is also bound to notify our Embassy of one of its' national's death, and because nobody can ship a foreigner back home without a diplomatic seal from his country around the box. The lawyer from the Polish consulate who came to our funeral home (more than a week later--Christmas time) told me that was in part an anti-contraband thing to avoid Immigration processing and then a Customs search of the casket and remains when he got to Warsaw.

So I'd guess they'd keep him refrigerated until all that gets cleared up which presumably would also include our embassy contacting his family and then their wishes unfold. I hope he makes it home.

As an aside, you can register your presence in CR and pertinent contact info with the US Embassy in SJ and do it on-line. I know that may not appeal to alot of us, but a good move if you can.
