A short Story: A must Read! take 1 Minute before you post today or any day!

There is a guy who I grew up with and have known for 35 years. He is truly one of the most genuinely nice guys you will ever meet with not having a bad thing to say about anyone. He is a devoted family man with two Ch*ldren (Twins), 7 brothers & sisters, a wife and takes care of his mom and dad. He is active in the town community running softball programs, helping under privileged K*ds as well as playing an active role in a variety of local town business activities. Very well off financially though he never acts or is rich or is better than anyone else. If there is a term used Salt of the Earth he is it. I shared a few drinks with him just recently over Thanksgiving at a reunion of old friends.

Tomorrow, I'll be flying to NJ for his wake & funeral because a 2nd time drunk driver at 2PM in the middle of the day a few days ago swerved as she was texting on the phone and ran him over as she jumped the curb, and ran him down in broad daylight in front of his business to the horror of co workers on a local thoroughfare in his hometown. He leaves behind a legacy and that is all. His life is over as well as it forever has changed all his families & friends lives moving forward. They will bury a pillar of community on Friday. He has no more future. This is not a beg for sympathy nor do I want condolences. It is a statement of fact below.

So today and going forward every time you are all arguing over whether someone's screen name is too close to another's. When you're calling each other names & basically having temper tantrums like 6th graders. When you begin treating each other with all types of garbage. When you interject silly comments on a thread towards someone you don't even know but simply rubs you the wrong way. Remember just how lucky you all are. You are alive and able to enjoy the fruits of life every day in a not so terrible place. You are able to travel to a land such as CR or wherever you choose and enjoy a cocktail, or the company of a companion. You are able to return home or to wherever you wish and spend time with your family, relatives & friends. This is a final appeal to all of you out there who continue to bombard message forums with trivial type stuff.

I started this site as a community of brotherhood where it wasn't important how many posts you had, how much knowledge you knew, what your screen name was, or how self important someone thought they were. It was started to share knowledge AS GENTLEMEN! Somewhere along the line everyone seems to forget this is supposed to be fun and not so hard. As I go to bury a friend, perhaps you will all take a second and think about how ridiculous some of the stuff that has been posted here has been. And maybe just maybe at least for the time being you will think before you post, wondering is this really that important I make this comment or send a snide remark towards someone. Maybe I should be more positive and thankful.

Yes the above happens to good people every day and there is no rhyme nor reason any of us can understand, but for me it hits close to home and I ask you all for the final time to grow up and remember what we are doing here. Time is entirely too short for all the peripheral garbage that we have seen lately. I thank you for taking a minute to read this perhaps it will do some good.

My Deepest Condolences.
As a New VIP member to CRT, I have read 100's of postings so far that will assist me on my upcoming first trip to CR, and I must thank everyone for the amazing advice and the knowledge that I now have. I am surprised at all the negative postings by some members that in my opinion, make we want to immediately stop reading.

God gave everyone 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason and there are some members who just need to sit back and enjoy this forum whether they agree with someones opinion or not.

Regards
D

Senior Brother Admin1 has shown us what is really important going forward, and it's not a bunch of pissy comments on a matter likely forgotten next week. Thank you, Tomas, for the timely reminder. I join with the others in expressing condolences for this senseless tragedy and its impact on all concerned (family, you, his community).

I offer my deepest condolences to you Tomas. It is never easy to lose a friend or loved one, especially due to such preventable circumstances.

Thank you for the timely reminder to always behave like gentlemen.

Deepest condolences; very sorry for your loss.

(Sad too that preventable stupidity on the part of the driver caused this tragedy - she did not have to drive drunk and/or text - and a 2nd time looser.....throw away the key)

Tomas.........

I, too, am sorry for your loss.

I used to be on an ambulance crew, and I know well that bad things happen to good people every day.

We are thankful for the good ones like you and your friend.

drinking and driving is bad enough, but texting on top of that? there is no punishment suitable for this pos.
