haha Scuba1, that one should probably be made into a sticky! Actually, it should be made into an official document that must be signed by any gringo marrying down here. Sort of a disclaimer you have to sign to say that you understand the risks. :D

Thank you TW :)

I'd be interested to see - from the OP - how spot on my comments were - Bennett...what do you say?

I'll let the romantics and other morons keep their own opinons - but if I'm even partly correct in what I've written, you need to rethink the marrage and possibly the whole relationship - but you know that, don't you

Calling others morons and you expect OP to take your opinion seriously ??
Scuba you little beyatch ......... :)

OP is most likely Old Gringo who has found CR treasure ( young tica ) and thinks that this is his last shot @ young p.ussy before he hits grave

Words of advice
==========
1) Get PreNup
2) Don't make any bab.ies
3) Don't sponsor her to united states. There is no immigration law that automatically grants or forces citizen to sponsor their spouse on immigrant visa.
4) Get CR residency after marrying her .

YOU WIN IF YOU FOLLOW THIS ADVICE. MAY FORCE BE WITH YOU !!!

Anyone telling him to go for it without taking into consideration what I wrote is a moron - but because its Palm Sunday, lets just amend that to just say an uninformed, hopeless romantic   :P

And yes, since my post hit on just about all cylinders, he should take it seriously, as well as others similarly tempted. While I don't have to touch a hot stove to know it burns, or jump out of a 40 story building to know you will likely die if you do so, the advice given and the commentary show its not my first rodeo

Frankly, the OP can ignore or cornsider what I wrote; up to him - the fact that he's in as deep as he indicates means he should have posted - over a year ago - my post/reply/comments would not have changed!

Scuba-
I appreciate every viewpoint and all advice. You are right on a few points but way off on others.
Perhaps I used the wrong word in CAVE- she has not asked me about marriage. It is I that am considering asking her! she has never been married and has no Ch*ldren and her family is outstanding!
The pu*sy is good but I am still young enough to get laid here in the US! I am 50 years old and have not dated a woman over 35 ever, though it would not be a problem.
Right on about the fights, she cannot handle the liquor!! I really enjoy her company and we travel all over the country together. I have read so many stories about deception on this site, i just wanted to have as much knowledge as possible.
Thanks for insight!

Then why did you say she was pushing you for marriage?????? Sounds like you were not being honest about your situation. If that is true, are you being honest with yourself about your situation???? Is everything as good as you said it is? Maybe you should re-think the whole idea of marrying this woman. Or at least if you are gonna ask advice give us the whole truth. Most guys on here are trying to help.

A pre-nup does NOT protect you the same way as not being married at all. Many are misled by this and think a pre-nup can protect you completely. Here's some food for thought

1) You must declare all your assets at the time of the pre-nup. If there is one omission or incidence of fraud, the pre-nup could be thrown out - probably will. This should really make you think, "Do I want anybody know how much I have and where it's at." As the adage goes, "If you tell them what you got, you are telling them what there is to get." The person with the most to lose - will. She has nothing or else should wouldn't be getting married. Most rich women don't marry.

2) In Florida you cannot disinherit your spouse unless they consent. Figure the odds.

3) If you have a 401K, your wife has to consent to not being a beneficiary. Figure the odds.

4) True story. An American marries a Russian girl, many years his junior, he got pregnant. After a year of an unhappy marriage, he decides he wants to get a divorce and tells her. Since you have to be married for 3 years (I think - might be longer) to keep your residency, she will loose her residency if they get divorced after one year. The exception is that if you get a divorce due to abuse, physical violence and harm, etc. Answer - She files charges against the husband claiming domestic abuse, she got a restraining order so he couldn't come see the K*D and she claimed SHE was getting a divorce because of the abuse. Result - He lost his job, she got a divorce, alimony, Ch*ld support and a nice green card.

There is absolutely NO ADVANTAGE to getting married and even greater disadvantage to marrying a foreign national. Leave your heart in CR and take your $$$ to an attorney in the USA to verify everything I told you. Don't take my word for it. But, do verify!!

I have heard the same story about any girl from any country except Canada, even UK, Australia and New Zealand have the drawback of being far from their home and families that can put a strain on the marriage unless they were rich enough to fly back frequently.

I think there are signs in the airport something like look and enjoy the wildlife, but don't try to take it out of it's natural habitat. :D

I have an amiga in CR, who I like a lot. However, she went to the US to marry a guy to get citizenship and planned to leave him later on. It's the main goal in life in CR and I don't hold it against her.

I also once married a latina, who I loved and lived with happily. But the marriage, tying the knot itself, was for her sake. I was happy enough to just live with her. Why legally "marry" unless there is a particular reason? Send her money until you get tired of it or find out she is still going to the Del Ray.

Find a lawyer in CR and get proper legal counseling. Then find a lawyer in the US and get legal advice from them.
You'll get all kinds of advice from board members but unless they are a lawyer you won't get the real picture, just their opinion.
Except for the pre-nup. DO IT / get the pre-nup, if you decide to get married.
Follow your brain first and then follow your heart. Never think with your little head. Easier said than done, I know.
