Anyone know if they closed the Nimbus smoking bar, 1st floor of the airport, at the end of February?The bartender told me they were being shut down then.

While it was open in mid Jan - I did a search on "AM Costa Rica's" site - found nothing - maybe someone else can tell us for sure - nothing on the SJO site either

It was open on march 14th, but the bar was not open and all the stuff on the wall was gone.
Something is going on

Is that the one downstairs from the food court, small bar, a bunch of small tables, two access computers? they were having 2-for 1 Imperial specials in Jan and Feb. I hope not, that's the only place to kill a little time and have a drink that I know of.

Everything was walled off in the food court last night too. The only thing open in the food court was that Cafe Britt store.

If not already closed, they are going to. I spoke with the bartender a month ago. A new restaurant at the opposite end of the airport is taking over. It is on the main floor about 3/4 of the way to the end. I first had my hopes up for decent food. It is just a couple of notches up from fast food. With cocktails available.

That means big money for a beer. It was ten dollars for a beer in the Panama airport.

Went looking for it Wednesday & it was no longer there. I went into that downstairs lounge, it has a smoking area but they wanted $30 just to stop in & have a smoke-I passed. Went back up & had to look hard to find a bar for a drown-my-sorrows, leaving CR bloody mary. After quaffing it, I headed to Houston vowing to return asap!

The Nimbus lounge was still open on April 1. Nothing for sale, just 3-4 tables with chairs.

you know that bar is gone, but when i left in march they had these little open refrigeration units going up everywhere and i was able to buy a $3.50 beer and sit and drink it in the main hallway.
sort of the same as that food court but just sort of against the wall with a small bar and maybe four bar stools. they had every kind of drink and some edibles as well.
thought it was pretty cool and reasonable for airport prices.
guess smokers are still sol though.
