Most all the good poker tournies seem to be at the Barcello Palacio poker room. Today there is a $30,000 guarateed tourney with a $300 plus $30 event starting at 4pm.

I know this is way past the tournie date, but just curious, how many players are typical at a 30k guarantee with a 300 plus 30 fee?

and how many finish places pay finish money?

thank you.

For a $300 tournament with 30k guaranteed they want 100 players. The $30 is just the vig that goes to the house to pay the dealers and run the tournament. If they get less than 100 players the casino/house must come up with the money because they made the guarantee; it is called an overlay. However, they will usually get more than the 100 players and the prize pool will rise. For example, if they get 200 players it will be a 60k prize pool.

As to payouts; in general, 10% get paid. For 100 players they would probably pay only those who make the final table. Also, most of the money will be concentrated in the top 3 spots. The house will have a sheet listing how they make payouts etc.

Are the ring games in CR pretty soft?
I like a loose Omaha8 game.

There ano Omaha games in the gulch, it's just Holdem. You may be able to find an Omaha game at the Fiesta Casino on the way to the airport. They have wider selection of games and wider stakes (low and high).
