Cars can be a big headache in CR. Make sure that your questions about security of the car are very specific.

Be sure to have plenty of insurance for a car.

Busses in CR work very well, although air conditioning in busses can be a problem. Taxis are everywhere, and cheap.

the hotels do not have parking other than on the streets around them
there are secured parking areas very close, especially at SL but they are not free
