Hello,
Just got back this morning from a nine day trip to CR. I'm planning on writing a full trip report within the week, but in the meantime I figured I'd write up this quick review of my time spent in Hotel Little Havana.
My brother and I stayed in the first suite up the stairs to the left. The Montecristo suite. It was far larger than the photos on the website would lead you to believe. Between the bed and the T.V, there were two chairs, plus two bar stools to the side, a wet bar, and lots of space. It was more than enough space to have seven girls put on a private show for three guys.
I read a review here that said the wingman's room was little more than a closet. If so, that persons closet is way larger than any one I've ever had. While you're not going to throw any parties in the spare bedroom, and I imagine a threesome would be kinda tight, it was more than adequate for my needs. Lots of closet space and a small television. The only negative to the wingman's room I can think of is that while the main room had curtains on the window, the spare room had a large bare window, no curtains and looking directly on to the depressing Orwellian concrete building across the street, completely filling the view. The bathroom was epic in size too, with a sauna, a large shower and a bidet. The dry sauna would heat up nice, but you really needed to manipulate what was left of the knob. The shower had a steam function, but it didn't work. Not really a big deal as it got steamy enough without it. However, the water was slow to drain, creating a pool before long. What was cool was that the sauna had a bench with a large window looking into the shower, so that you could sit and watch your girl.
There is a communal phone downstairs that enables a guest to call the states free of charge. Also, if you ask the house maids nicely they'll do your laundry for you. I used this twice and tipped her USD $10.00 both times. She came in the morning, bagged my dirty laundry, and by the afternoon my clothes were cleaned and folded nicely on the chair.
Fresh towels were always available on request. However, wash cloths were non-existent. I never saw any in the room and asked the fount desk and maid several times for some, but none ever came.
Boyd and Greg were great. Greg was on duty the day we arrived and did an outstanding job of showing us the ropes, helping us getting over newbie anxiety, giving advice with the girls and telling us the what local joints we might like to hit.
Boyd always made sure the mood was relaxed, and that the fellas were having fun. He told me his philosophy was “we want to be a really great neighborhood bar. A place were the bartender smiles, the beer is always cold, and the girls all say yes.†Another Boydism: “The millionaires will always have Vegas, they can go there and live like rock stars anytime they want. This place is for the rest of us.†I might not have those quotes verbatim, but they are pretty close. I'd have to say he nailed the atmosphere he was shooting for. I had a great time every minute I was in that bar. For my brother and I it was a both a destination and a refuge. A difficult atmosphere to explain, and probably harder to maintain, meaning; it was a place we sought to discover the San Jose experience, but also a place to fall back on when the city just got too phucking weird too fast.
I haven't mentioned the women yet, I'm saving that for the full report. But suffice to say, my brother and I have different taste in women and the P4P experience. I fall more on the GFE side, he's more on the “let's keep this professional†side. My brother left very happy. I left very, very happy. I believe there is something there for everyone.
The happy hour was the best deal in town that we could fine. The bar food was terrific. Seriously, I'm from NYC. If you were to tell me a week ago the best Ruben and meatball sub I'd ever have would be found in San Jose CR, I'd have smacked you upside the head. But that would have been a week ago.
I'd recommend HLH to anyone and plan on visiting again. If my gracious hosts are reading this, then thanks for your hospitality.
Sincerely, The Brothers.
