According to an article in this mornings
Inside Costa Rica Semana Santa will not see any liquor sales this year. The law making it possible for a municipality to allow the sale of booze is not going to be in effect this year as the text of the new law has not been approved.
Quote:
Semana Santa Prohibition On Sale of Liquor Continues
Semana Santa or Holy Week is around the corner and a new law to a change, restaurants and bars in Costa Rica will go dry.
As well, supermarkets and liquor stores have to suspend all sales of liquor, beer and wine on Thursday and Friday (April 5 and 6).
The new "ley de licores" would leave the implementation of whether to ban sales of liquor during Semana Santa and in elections.
However, the text has not been approved and the bills is currently before the Comisión de consultas de Constitucionalidad de la Asamblea Legislativa (legislative commission) as directed by the Constitutional Court.
