Most of these people bitching the loudest are exsmokers and what really bothers them is not the smoke so much as that rich american tabacco smell that you can pick up from the far end of a Safeway parking lot as you exit the store. You know the one that brings you back to a better time sitting at the bar at the DelRey chatting up a chica with a freshly delivered ice cold Imperial sitting in front of you and you fire that baby up take a drag and at that moment in time you know life is so good. Taking that away is a crime but so is listening to a bunch of whinney little bitchy exsmokers who are really worried that they will fall off the exsmoker bandwagon if they so much as see a cigarette. 8)

sorry - sell that lame ass explanation elsewhere. never used that shit. but i can certainly understand the frustration endured when defending your addiction.

best of luck with that.

I'm thinking which ever side of the debate you are on that ya might be spending too much time in bars if this is a big issue. :D I'm an ex smoker, albeit never heavy, who will not be affected whatsoever whichever way it comes out.

P.S. Sorry to burst your little theory - I never smoked deathsticks, although I have enjoyed a fine cigar or two.

Guys all good points but please keep the topics on point. Do not take any attacks against individuals for their opinions but debate it for what it is NOT EACH OTHER.

Also please watch out how you make certain statements they can be construed as a major problem if someone took them literally

THANK YOU!

I hate cigarette smoke, and I am allergic to it, my nasal passages start closing up and I get congested when someone lights up. But I am concerned about the loss of individual liberties, I mean, is outlawing PFP next in CR? It is kind of all about freedom, after all, and big brother governing your every move.
I remember in California when they banned smoking in bars, you suddenly could smell all of those smells that were previously masked by the smoke: spilled stale beer, rotting food, bad breath, BO, and farts. And I do love to fart at will.

You mean it will be safe to book in the "SMOKEY AZZ MORAZON"? No more butt smell!!!! (OK, atleast cigarette butts).

Oh Hell, it won't be smokey anymore? Wonder if the price will go up? Wonder if it considers hotel rooms in the same vain as someone's casa?

In 2 years that hotel could have a new name .... THE MORAZON.

Now all the government has to do is legislate that tool and overzealous "tip natzi" Ricky Ricardo out of there.

Boyd, if your out their ... will it no longer be the cigar bar at hotel little havanna? Or will that be unscathed and cigarette smokers untouched in there? Just a question.

I'm not a smoker, but I am sure if this should come to pass ... bootleg markets of people selling indiviuals everywhere ... and for you smokers be ready for more scavangers on the beg to bum cigarettes ... the tagline will no longer be "Un cervesa por me?" it will be "amigo ... un cigarillo por me"

Ahhh...smoke free venues ... enhale the freshness :)

You might as well shelve this discussion and bring it back up next year. The court got hold of it and it won't be a quick process. And as said before, it will end up where it ends up regardless of how the mongers decide the issue. So, there is no sane reason to argue and get angry with each other over a subject that you have no control over. Smokers want to smoke and non-smokers don't want the smoke around. Nobody will convert the other side or change their minds. I generally consider argument futile because it results in nothing. Think of big political issues that people constantly fight over. Have you ever seen anyone "see the light" so to speak and change their position? Interesting how humans love argument for argument's sake.

I admit I was just as bad as anybody about this in life until I realized it was the equivalent of banging your head against the wall.

It seems like some people are concerned that when one privilege is taken away that it will lead to a loss of other privileges. In the case of CR, the smoking ban will somehow lead to prostitution ban. :?

It might take that long for the smoke to dissipate. Good news for me, but I still worry about what will be next and our hobby.

Well I am an ex smoker but love my cigars, I will likely spend very little time in places I can't smoke them. I have always tried my best to be a polite cigar smoker but some can not be pleased ever. Speaking of dumb dumbs I IMHO believe they are those who buy into the never proven second hand smoke kills theory. I do think it may hurt people in small tight area's without ventilation but I have been in casinos that their systems are so good I could smoke a cigar five feet away from you and you wouldn't hardly know it.

Oh well always one way or the other why can we never compromise and leave it up to the business owners, Nothing wrong with hiring smokers the laws that exist are silly. In the states the amount of tax revenue that is being lost at an ever growing rate will have to be replaced by someone, maybe non smokers can finally pay some sin taxes on something

Man the first trip after this will be interesting I guess I had better start doing research my retirement is April 6th at 51 I am pretty damn happy and raring to go
