Gentlemen,

I am not sure if I missed a prior post on the subject so here goes.

There are no more legal dry days here in Costa Rica according to the new law effective Jan. 1st, 2012. This means that Semana Santa (Easter week) and ALL election days restaurants, bars and stores can serve/sell alcohol.

I am not sure this will have much of an effect on the Easter week ladies crowd in San Jose because the tradition is still to leave in droves to the beaches here in CR.

Just for your information....everyday now is a party day in Costa Rica.

Bill

Here is a little kink. "Lawmakers passed in January on first reading a law to eliminate the prohibitions, but the law gives the municipalities the power to enforce a Holy Week dry law. So that situation still is up in the air."
Maybe not but remember, we are in CR. Where up is down and down is up..

I bet this area of San Jose will be ok. But I will guarantee that for the first year, there will be municipalities that still observe the ley seca. Change takes a bit here. :D

That, and they will try one last chance at shaking down business owners. I am sure they will play on the hope that most bars and such are not familiar with the way things are zoned.
