Need Some Help

Need some help I am going to San Jose next month and I need to make some phone calls back home to the state but I can't let certain people know that I am calling from outside of the country. I have a cheap phone provider that does not offer any calls from SJ. I have heard of something that works through the internet through your lap top that gives you a local area code from your area in the states and allowes you to call back home and and your local area code from back home shows up on the receivers phone. Does anyone know what this is where I get it and how much it cost.

It costs $40 for the device including first year and then $20/yr.

When you first get it, you register it and even pick the area code. If you are from Chicago for example, you can choose (312) xxx-xxxx. When you travel, people will think you haven't left your town. Or select a different city's area code if you want it to seem like you're out of town. You can even transfer over your existing number to your Magicjack.

You can also get a skype number and choose an area code when you do...maybe even cheaper than magic jack. i had the same requirement for my trips to CR and it kept me out of trouble.

Look at Google Voice -- you get a local number and link it to any line you'd like.

Check. You will just need to download the app to your mobile and as long as their is Wifi or you have decent data they will have no idea you are not in the states.

Skype lets you put whatever number you want to show up on caller ID. It takes 48 hours to update in the skype system but you could put your home/cell or any number and that will show on caller id of the person you call. Just remember to input the number two days before you go so the skype system can update
