Just got the green light from the boss man to take a week off sometime this spring ... I have no problem coming down solo and entertaining myself, but definitely need/want to fish at least a couple times while there. It's too expensive for me to charter a boat by myself. So if anyone has a trip planned and has room for one more angler to split the charter, please consider me. Or maybe a few of us can organize one ourselves ...

Like the idea of trip in conjunction with Memorial weekend, but am flexible. February to May is my time frame to burn the week.

I once fished with a guy named Mike I met on this board but lost touch. Hopefully someone else on this board loves to fish as much as they love the ticas ...

How do I find out details? Costs, etc. Do you have other anglers already lined up for that week? I'd rather split a charter with guys I don't know and fish four times as opposed to renting the whole boat myself for one day. Why that week? If I couldn't make it down then, anything available in May? Although, I can be swayed into picking an earlier slot if the fishing is better then, or whatever. Thanks for your help!

Hola GatorMitch! I'd love to fish with you again, but I won't be in CR during that timeframe.
Best of luck!
Mucho Gusto

Fishing the Caribbean side at the Rio Colorado Lodge 4/9, 10, 11, return to SJ 4/12. Fly RT—this place is fun, my third visit and you catch fish here. Rates include boat and guide as well as all meals, which are excellent. Anyone interested in going here let me know.
I also have some available days in my April trip for possible shared Pacific side charter spot or ? My avail. Days are Sat. 4/14, and Sun. 4/15 as well as Fri. 4/20. Anyone of these would be good—my preference is to fish for edible (Dorado/Tuna/Wahoo) as opposed to bill/sailfish release. I know boats and captains at both Coco and Potrero. I don’t mind a fly in situation and would consider Drake Bay area in the south. Off the Osa is very wild and lots of fish—very close to Panama. If anybody is down for some fishing PM me, or reply here.
If enough response indicates an interest, but no prior fishing plan, I can arrange something for 3 to 4 serious fishermen. I will be at the La Amistad or Sportsman on /or around the days shown so anyone wanting to see photos or discuss a possible share check me out.
So GatorMitch this is a re-post from before, but dates are still good.

ANYONE ELSE WANT TO FISH? PLEASE CONTACT WE CAN PUT A TRIP TOGETHER VERY EASILY

i have a group of three guys fishing each day with me that week. Your share would be $250/day, plus 1/4 cost of food, fuel, bait, drinks and tips.
plus you'll need a CR fishing license, which i think is $25, good for a year.

We picked this week as the best week for bill fishing in CR, historically over the last 5 years.

If you want to fish in CR with the #1crew, and some like minded, fun guys.... this is the week!

At a $1000 per day + expenses--fuel, food, bait, tip etc this must be a nice boat. What is her name? What size and what type power is she? I would like to read the fishing reports for this particular boat just to see how she has been doing.

I admitt, I haven't even visited Jaco since the late 70's, but I fish both the Caribbean and Pacific everytime I visit Costa Rica, and read lots of info. about the different areas, boats, Captains, catches w/photos, etc.

I don't have any firm plans yet for the Pacific on my next trip (April) and may be interested in fishing with your boat and #1 crew.

Please send info.

Thanks

I'm a little confused. Please clarify if my math is off -

For 4 anglers, they would pay $250 per day EACH, plus another $25 EACH for that much needed Costa Rican Fishing License  , and then on top of that - they've all got to pay another 1/4 EACH the cost of the FOOD, FUEL, BAIT, DRINKS, and TIPS ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

Are you serious ?!?!? And this is so they can fish on a 34' Venture Center Console with Twin Outboards?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!    Geez.... I'm in the wrong business.

Oh wait......

250 + 125 xpenses or you could charter a boat for $1500/day. you pick.

My dock fees are $1700/mo
insurance is $7000/yr
salaries, social sec, health insurance are $2500/mo
fuel is $5.80/gal
i paid $40,000 for the permits to set up the business
licenses, permits, fees, taxes run about $1200/ yr.
add maintenance, tackle, oil changes, shipping, duties.... and you think i make any money chartering a boat in CR? it costs me $800 per day in fixed expenses before i add any variable costs.

if you dont want to throw in $375 for the best fishing experience in the world...then don't.
