Received my GE card in the mail exactly 1 week after my interview. I was surprised to get it so quickly. Can't wait to use it next time I'm in the San Diego area. :wink:

Last weekend a CRT member who was crossing back from TJ was refused entry using the GE card. He was made to go back to the end of the line. It seems that they only accept Sentry at San Ysidro, and have a special line for Sentry, but it says nothing about GE. If that is indeed true, it would seem that GE is for air/sea entry. Maybe he can post in case I misunderstood what happened.

Also a head's up about the San Ysidro entry. They are rebuilding the entry and things are a phucked up. When we got to the border about 11 AM, on Sunday, the line was all the way back to the cul-d' sac (about an hour or two). The usual tout's were there charging $ 5.00 to take the bus (Mexicoach) across the border. This time it actually worked. They have a special bus lane now, and it took less than 15 minutes.

Health & happiness to all............

Would like to know if the GE card will work in the TJ Sentry line. My card says Global Entry on one side and Sentry on the other...

I applied online last Friday. Got conditional approval on Monday morning. Booked interview for Tuesday night. Received card today, Friday, 3 days after interview. Total from start to finish = 7 days.

Quick service. Very unusual for the gov't. :lol:

Applied last night, got conditional approval this afternoon. First appointment for in-person interview in Ft Lauderdale was March something. Checked Miami, got an appointment for Tuesday. :D

Took about a month and a half in Houston. Got it before my trip in January. When I flew back to Houston, I got to bypass the huge line at customs. Took about 10 minutes to get through the whole system to the airport parking busses. It worked awesome. Saved me about an hour in line.

It is designed for frequent travelers, but there are no prerequisites. ANYONE can apply. If you're willing to pay $100 and go to the interview, YOU are eligible.

It's a great time-saver and peace-of-mind saver.

They will ask you when your next trip is. I told the CBP officer I was going to CR to see girls. He was frowning and saying "can I go with you?" :)

Lovely, so you threw some salt in the wound of the guy giving you permission to have this card? I LOVE IT!!! Next time kick him in the nuts and say, "Have a nice day!!!"

Nice SR

Anyone can apply and pay the $100, but that doesn't mean they will all get approved.

Global Entry is a risk-based approach to facilitate the entry of pre-approved U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the United States and citizens of certain other countries. Applicants may not qualify for participation in the Global Entry program if any of the following conditions are applicable:

They provide false or incomplete information on the application;
They have been convicted of any criminal offense or have pending criminal charges to include outstanding warrants;
They have been found in violation of any Customs, Immigration, or Agriculture regulations or laws in any country;
They are subjects of an investigation by any Federal, state, or local law enforcement agency;
They are inadmissible to the United States under Immigration regulation; or
They cannot satisfy CBP of their low-risk status or meet other program requirements.

They don't specify nor do they ask when. I believe they just ask about "crimes".

I listed a misdemeanor DUI from 20 years ago and I was approved almost immediately.

Just put it down at the appropriate point in the application.

Put application in early this morning, rec'd my conditional approval approximately four hours later. Have my interview set for Tue afternoon at O'Hare. Not sure if location has anything to do with it but they must have this one automated. Interviews are held at Terminal 5 Entry EC next to McDonalds. :)

I used the GE kiosk last night on my return into MIA. Took a matter of 2 minutes, slide your passport in, place your four fingers on the scanner, answer the declaration questions and you are on your way. I needlessly filled out my customs declaration on the plane since the receipt the machine popped out was all that was needed at the customs checkpoint.

Oh and my card is a NEXUS card I got in Canada can also be used at Global Entry kiosks! Well worth the application and fee in my opinion.

based on my friend's experience with his reckless driving conviction, anything that's not "serious" is a non-issue after 10 years. of course, the exact criteria are not public info.

As an FYI, 24 years ago I had a DUI that was "dismissed" and 20 years ago one that was a misdemeanor. Nothing since.

At my review the agent told me that 2 misdemeanors render one INELIGIBLE for the GE card. I told her the site didn't say that and she said it did. Since the first was dismissed I was OK. I didn't bother to check about the "2 misdemeanors" since, when I got home a few hours later my approval was sitting there waiting for me. Supposedly get card in 7-10 days.

My fingerprint report didn't come back to her within the 15 minutes or so I was there so she told me to leave and if they checked out I'd get an e-mail from the system.

Special K;

Is there a separate line at Mia, the agent I had interviewing me said once you received your print out from the kiosk just to show to any agent and they would assist you? I've had some bad experiences just walking up to an agent and asking a question so any info on the process would be appreciated.....Mike
