All,

Heading to CR. on these dates. Have not booked but will be staying at HLH or Dunn Inn, possibility with SL but only if price/accomodations are right as it's superbowl. This trip, thinking of staying the weekend in SJ then heading to the beach - Jaco and Quepos. Looking for wingman. Vince the Prince is threatning to attend with me, but nothing locked in yet.

Gweiss - Quepos is not for the new guy. It's for someone interested in expanding and going out beyond. It's not easy pickings, if that is what you need. It's the beach and for exploration. I will be going with Tico friends. Take it or leave it.

Latest is that the two bars are getting better with the beach to add to atmosphere... Takers, let me know.

Quepos is a nice flight, Jaco is a drive then beetle bar. both have a different flavor. Are you taking SJ CR sand to those beaches? there is very little pink snapper fishing in quepos, unless you are the skilled angler, I hear. I did like the Beetle bar, there is a late night dance n pool place 1000 yrds south of thr beetle bar, upstairs.
Sound like you have too many plans. maybe one of each on all fronts, except chicas.
I like to avoid events like Superbowl during a monger run. I raises the average rates due to more Gringos.
like going to vegas for xmas or new years. table low limits go way way up.

There is pink snapper to be found in Quepos, but it is generally a lower grade of fish than can be found in Jaco or San Jose.

Some good stuff in Quepos if you have time and can develop stuff, most of us don't and so can't or don't want to--understood. Thus the quickie p4p stuff at the two bars mentioned ad on infinitum on this board in Quepos are the option. Not always a lower grade of fish at these joints, there are some for sure takers, but this higher grade is alot lesser in numbers than Jaco and SJ.

However, the quality of the beach and the whole CR tourist scene is the opposite, Quepos/Manuel Antonio hands down over Jaco, not that's Jaco is a pit, just that Manuel Antonio is a world class beach often mentioned as such in various "World's Best Beaches" publications.

Hey, whats up Mr. TD -

I am the the HLH for 3 nights right before Superbowl, then plan to hit Jaco for about the 4th time.....on the 6 - 8th......but have you ever considered an all inclusive? we have gone to tamboor, which requires a cool ferry crossing for about an hour........all in all about 4 hours from SJ.......we take our "wives" with us for three days and chill.....and everything is included........check out Barcelo Tambor Beach.....and its relatively fair priced........around $150-200 per night for both of you, all inclusive....

some of my traveling bros are considering doing another island hop....so I am taking my experience to what I like to do....which has included serveral zip lines in Jaco and multiple quad rides there as well.....highly recommended.......

the BB is fun......but the price is generally locked.....and they are the perverbial only game in town.....

hit me back and lets see what cooks.....
