I thought about using Aerocasillas in the past too but after looking at all their charges, taxes, and fees, I decided against it. They have more fees than the phucking phone or cable company.

There are a couple guys who hang out in the SL that do importing of things such as TV's and whatever else. Depending on what it is and such you can get it through with not duty and If you need to bring some things in on a large scale it can be done for a fee and no duty. I am not gonna mention any names because this is an open forum, but I can give anyone info if they PM me. I will give you the guys name and phone number. He has been doing this for a while and some good guys will vouche for him. This is just for an alternative to Aerocasillas.

Disclaimer: I do not earn any commish or anything off of this. I just thought it is a valid option as well.

contemplated doing this down to actually checking out a few thrift stores for those old style massive hard suitcases.
if you know someone that does the panama run, those prices are not too far off ours.
given the difficulties i would encounter with carrying the luggage, let alone the worrying i would do about it getting damaged, i took the panama deal.

Agreed, about the trash can. I have been letting people know to take their $h!t with them when they leave. I even saw someone planted one of my preferred cigars back there. I'll be a little more vigilant from now on......

I brought the TV in on Friday. No issues, but they gave me the customs stamp in my passport. No biggie, I won't be back in less than 6 months.

Has anyone been to Golfito lately to purchase a TV or appliance?

I believe they still have a $500 every six months limit. If that is true, by the time you go there, spend the night and pay for the taxi-carga back to San Jose, my guess is there would be minimal savings if any at all.

Damn, after reading this thread a couple of days ago, I meant to stop by Walmart yesterday which is my one day per week in the office. Just curious to see what their prices are these days. I'm sure it doesn't beat the States but am interested to see if it beats the Gallo mas Gallos and the Importadora Monges....
