Okay guys- short story-For 32 years I have been travelling to CR at least 5 times a year and even lived in Alequela back in the 80s. I travel to the San Jose area both for pleasure and business, usually for 3 or 4 days of business with a day or two of pleasure. I will be in SJ next week and am looking for a different experience for the weekend. I have done the beach, the ATVs, rafting, horse back etc. I am pretty tired of the usual monger all day, drink at night, eat too much, and repeat.

I am looking for some type of unusual tour on Saturday daytime to take my 3 customers to that isn't the typical monger experience. An all day resort in the rain forest, a nice place ot hang out for the whole day where someone will pamper us and cater to our every need, including great food, drink etc.

Our base is the Dunn.

I am waiting to hear suggestions- and keep them real.

Not bad but a bit pricey and sounds like too many honeymooners. Keep suggesting places though.i appreciate everyone's input

Fly to Liberia and spend a few days in Guanacaste. Playa Coco, Tamarindo, Liberia, Arenal, etc are a nice change of scenery. Easy to find hotels in these area with a google search

Check out this report I wote on the place a little while back. Well worth the $100 cash I spent on the room and there were other players there the same time as I. And it still felt we were the only ones in the joint.

Just a suggestion. Maybe you just want to visit the place one day and walk around before you decide. ????

I took a day trip to Isla Tortuga. You probably did that too, but figured I'd throw it out there.

my last trip down i decided to try Arenal.......OMG it was great.........there are two great "natural water parks" you can hit to enjoy the thermal waters of the volcano.......personally we stayed at Baldi........there are 26 different pools, each one with a clean atmosphere and great water.......there are water slides.......great bars at some of the pools as well, with swim up type bar stools.......they serve 3 meals there which are good...........about a 7 or 8 on a 10 scale....not really impressive, but adequate.....you still have the "resort" feel..........

next we cruised by Tabacon.............damn, what an impressive entrance! and the buffet was awesome, with lots of foods readily available, and cooks standing by to assist in whatever you wanted..........and then they had great looking pools....this was the most highly recommended place in Arenal.....as the grapevine says..........

The entrance fee is about $80 per day per person, and doesnt include eats..........but it is a fantastic relaxing experience.......

the bus ride there took a couple of hours...........and a few more back.........i would recommend staying over at least 1 night in the more than adequate clean rooms....... at least a 3 1.2 to 4 stars property......Baldi was a 3 star place.....

I took my rent a wife with me, and that made all the difference for my level of enjoyment........there are no friends to find for our manly sporting..........gotta truck it in with you...........

all in all, it is a great time and great area...........highly recommended if you havent done it yet..........but beware, there is only hot water available...........you arent gonna get a cold shower.........but somehow, after a while, it really doesnt matter...

transportation was the worst part of the trip..........but tolerable..........

The butterfly and waterfalls place above herida is a nice hour drive out and has resturant and is in a rain forrest. I did this with a Poas volcano side trip but the fog was to bad and poas was closed. Just a thought.
