Reading an article about salaries in Costa Rica going up and it got me wondering about something again. I always hear about how the salaries are so bad and the citizens don't make any money here. Where do all these nice, new looking shiny cars come from? They are all over the place. To the point they seem out of proportion to the supposedly small percentage that make a decent salary. Are people do some ridiculous financing?
Well I drive a 10 year old Toyota 4 runner, because I'm stingy. What people also should understand is there is a growing upper class that consists of both ticos and foreigners. While the average wage earner, makes less than $12k per year, there are plenty that make between $50-100K. I work with some of them and yes some drive new BMWs, Mercedes, Audi's. There are some decent paying jobs down here, but you have to be high-up in the org to be making a decent coin.
