Dont avoid Bangkok or Pattaya, they are very easy to do. Check out Pattaya or Bangkok Addicts forums, they have lots of helpful information, just like this forum. If you have the time and money, try all 3 places. If you are strictly into mongering I would suggest Pattaya and Bangkok. The only thing difficult about Asia is the trip there and the initial jet lag. I liked the rainy season vs the high season; people seemed to appreciate you being there a bit more. And if you really have a bit longer time, Cambodia and the Philippines are just a couple hours away. Check out Air Asia and Cebu Pacific for cheap flights in Asia. My last trip last spring I did all 3 countries with Bangkok being the pivot point of my trip. That way you can check 3 places off your bucket list.

As was said by a previous poster, both San Jose and Pattaya have their merits. For me, SJ is easier because of distance and that is a huge factor, and I like the smorgasbord of Latinas from Central and South America you have there. But if the distance and airfare were equal I'd go to Pattaya twice for every trip to CR. And I'd take a trip to the Philippines over 2 trips to either CR or Patts.

I'm limited in my time frame as I am using up two weeks vacation this month in CR and I rarely get time off later in the year, due to more senior coworkers booking off then, so June is it. One thing I read while doing a bit of research though is that June is supposedly a favorite month for the locals. It's technically low season, but the weather is still very nice overall.

And if I do pull the trigger, it would be no problem at all to split my flights so that I spend a night or two in Bangkok on the way home. I'll definitely look at that option.

Yes, I have been to Thailand many times and have spent much time in Chonburi province... Yes, there are lots of activities you can enjoy outside of the sex industry in Patters, but I stand by my original statement... You can find brothels and working girls in SJ, but you really cannot compare it to Pattaya for the sheer volume of available lbfm's...

MP's/Soi 6: I don't understand this type of comparison. Borthel to beer bars (assuming Pattaya soi 6).
Airfare: If you compare dollar to mile value, you might want to reconsider which is cheaper.

We should add MP to MP.
Thai MP (the sex ones) are usually pretty big and high class with pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc. (Similar to what I experienced in Hong Kong, but Thai cheaper.) CR MP is usually a hole in the wall place. Larger selection (in both quantity and quality) of girls at the Thai MP too. The cost will be more in Thailand too, but you are getting more, I think it was 1600 baht for 2.5 hours. CR massage parlors, you finish and want to go. Thai massage parlors, you finish and want to move in.

Girl's Style: I was referring to the outfits that the girls wear. Getting a whore to undress isn't a goal, how could a the inevitable be a goal? The majority of whores in Costa Rica dress to impress. It blew me away how bad the Thai whores dressed, the majority dressed like shit! In Thailand, I would barfine a stunner from a go-go bar. She then says "I go get changed now", I learned to dread those words! I've already seen what she looks like without clothes, so there's some excitement to see what outfit she would return in. Several of the girls that I barfined came back wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops. Not a sexy look at all. There were a few Thai girls that dressed well, but the majority didn't. The girls in Costa Rica have an excellent fashion sense. They look stunning in their outfits. I couldn't wait to get the girl to the room and undress her myself. Imo, the girl's style is a small but important part of the overall experience. Of coarse we all have our different tastes, but when comparing the girl's style, it's not even close! Costa Rica wins!!!

i think to each his own on most of it. but on the subject of weather its hard to understand how anyone would prefer the weather in the SEA sauna. unless you arrive in dec/jan it takes almost a week just to acclimate.
CR weather is perfect for me.
add to that an 18 hour flight vs. a 6 hour flight and the point is moot in my case. 18 is direct from cali and thats just phucking brutal for anyone over 6'.

I've never witnessed any of those things on P-A. Both forums are great and an excellent source for info on Pattaya.

In Thailand, the girls know where they work and what you are there for. Hell, just like McDonalds, you are ordering them by number when in a gogo. Temperatures at night in Bangkok and Pattaya can be hot and humid. Makes sense for them to wear clothes for the climate and they know they will just be stripping them off in 5 minutes back in your room. If you tell them you want to take them to a disco when you bar fine them, they will probably dress better. Tell them you will come back tomorrow to take them out to the disco (prepay their bar fine) and they will be dressed better. If you are talking about Pattaya, keep in mind it is beach town.

Costa Rican girls stunning in their outfits? If you think they are dressing up a bit to sell themselves, it is probably out of need. Heck, I find most of the CR girls fail to be stunning undressed. Sure you can wrap a piece of crap in a pretty ribbon, but it is still a piece of crap. Sorry, but I have to think about contestents on "Let's make a deal" that go after the pretty box only to find a disappointment inside.
