For me, living here for 4 years now and not being that big of an MP fan, they did offer something a little special. They are (were) discreet. When, and if, and with whom I might consider a nice romp with is no one's business unless I choose to share.

For me there is nothing worse than having a little "down low" with someone that might tickle my fancy only to hear endless stories for the next few (6) months from all of the guys who love hanging out in MP's and are always told upon arrival things like, "see that one over there, that is one of EdB's fav's"

There are always hundreds of places here to discreetly get as much as you want on the side w/o anyone (monger, ex-pat, or tico esposo/novio) finding out....Can you say, (ie) "Idem" or "Hotel Eden?"

One other point. In my personal experience Indy's and non-pro's usually, not always, know how to keep their big mouths shut and keep their personal knowledge of your log / tongue to themselves when they later run into you out on the town with your number one. One of the many reason I usually prefer Colombianas....JMHO

Good points. I've got absolutely nothing to hide from anyone, but I still like my privacy. I think some mp's are good for privacy, but some are very much not.
