TAKE A CHANCE AIRLINE (TACA)

Without hijacking the other thread I took Taca for the 1st and last time last trip.... I booked through their website, got a confirmation, then called them to book my seat.. Was given a confirmed seat through their phone reservation desk.

Now get to the airport and they can't find my reservation even though I have a copy of the Itinerary and confirmation. After 20 mins at the taca counter in MIA, they tell me Oh here it is, but no seat sir you will have to wait. Wait at the gate while they over 500 in vouchers to people to go on the afternoon flight a family of 5 took them up on it and I got a nice seat middle of the last row next to the bathroom NICE!

Last one off the Phucking plane making it a nice delay through immigration.

Return Flight SAME PHUCKING THING 2 persons working the Taca counter at SJO at 7AM finally about 10 mins before they close the flight they add 6 more agents to clear the line.. WTF WHERE THEY FOR THE 90 mins I was in PHUCKING LINE YOU have got to be kidding me... Of course they can't find my res again, and I end with another middle seat back of the plane....

Then they close the airoport because another plane is stuck on the runway and we are going to be there for 90mins to 2 hours NOPE they would not let us off the phucking plane Needless to say now I know why they call it TACA Airline TAKE A CHANCE AIRLINE!

AND I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CREDITED BY FF MILES ON AA Even though I confirmed my AA # with them on the phone and at the counter at both airports! My opinon they suck!

CapoD2TCapo,

Sorry to hear of your problems with TACA. Can not explain why things happen but occasionally every airline screws up. Understand why you would never fly them again.

On the other hand have been using Lacsa (now part of Grupo Taca) since 1992 and can honestly say never had a bad experience with them, kind of the rub of the green I guess.

Taca is my Favorite airline; I never had a problem,
Except for a couple of short waits leaving from Miami.

I was bumped once by TACA and forced to wait 24 hours in the Miami airport before I could get on another flight (they only have 2 per day and the morning one was filled). Their desk attendants work with typical latin american inefficiency (sorry if that sounds prejudiced). That said, problems of that sort can happen on any airline and, while they may occur with slightly greater frequency on take-a-chance-airline, I have also flown many times on TACA without incident. Given their affordable airfares and their courteous (albeit sometimes slow service), and the fact that most flights go off without a hitch, I'm willing to take that small chance again. I know this past incident leaves a bad taste in your mouth but I wouldn't write them off. Look at it this way, maybe you got your TACA horror story out of the way early and have less to fear in the future.

I'm sure they are a capable airline as I know many of you fly them and I know it can happen to any airline as I'm no stranger to delays etc.

My biggest beef was that I had a reserved seat and both times it was nowhere to be found, and that they overbook ALL THE TIME both legs of my trip and everyone around me was saying they often fly Taca and it seems to be their policy.

Although I probably wont fly them again, I understand the issues.

I might also ad, that the reason we ended up on the tarmac for 2 hours while the airport was closed, was because they HAD OVERBOOKED and several people with confirmed seats were making a beef outside the aircraft. They would not leave until this was settled and continued to ask for volunteers for vouchers. Those folks never did get on the plane yet the subsequent delay in departure caused us to be behind the aircraft that got stuck on the runway, hence the 2hours addtional.

OK enough bashing just making my point.

All airlines, even foreign flagged carriers, flying into US ports are
required to comply with denied boarding regulations.

If they were unable to accommodate you on another flight, theirs or another carrier, for 24 hours you should have received some great compensation.

Actually, I didn't tell the whole story and it wasn't really all their fault. I had booked a flight to Miami seperately on AA. That flight was late getting to Miami as a result I got to the TACA counter 1:59 hours before departure and was told I could not get on the flight because it was less than 2 hours. I had no check-in baggage and probably could have made it through security with time to spare but no dice. The counter person was not too helpful. He did get me a confirmed seat on the next evening flight. But wouldn't automatically put me on a standby list for the next morning. I had to show up 3 hours or less before flight time or sometime after 4AM. First they tell me I had to be there more than 2 hours before flight time if I had a ticket and then they tell I couldn't be there more than 3 hours before if I didn't :? . They even hit me with a reticketing charge for going on the later flight. The only semi-bright spot was that AA picked up the tab for a room at the airport hotel for the night. They couldn't pull any strings with TACA since it was on a seperate ticket. Unfortunately, I didn't get much sleep since I had to get up so early for my subsequently failed attempt to make it on the morning flight. All in all not the most pleasant experince I ever had with an airline.

Prolijo...did they put you up at the Wyndham? I stayed there one night courtesy of AA. Also, the time I drove to Miami, I left my car in their
parking lot. It wasn't covered parking, but it was fairly cheap.
