I was looking forward to trying the SL, maybe these guys had a bad night, anyone else had the dog barking, etc, stuff at SL?

Yeah,
The barking dog is usually me, salsa music is jammin @ all hours in my room, it's not car alarms I bring a rotating ball kinda like a disco ball only it has noise (95 DB beyond the thresehold of pain), goats- yeah that's me, now for the midgets I ain't coppin to nuttin.
The SL ain't for everybody. 8) 8) 8) 8) Any other complaints don't knock on my door. :shock: :shock:

Oh yeah, I left out car alarms, house alarms, ambulances, fire trucks, horns....San Jose is a crowded metropolitan area with no zoning and a culture that is used to the noise. Just one more thing to adjust to if you plan on being here long term. I woke up to barking dogs this morning. Par for the course.

DGD, if it's not dogs barking then it's something else. During to two years that I stayed at the Presidente it was a jack hammer starting about daylight every morning. Ear plugs are a must in San Jose.

The Pharmacy across the street from Presidente sells good quality ear plugs in case anyone ever needs some.

I stayed in TORRE NEGRO in Nov. and the only thing that woke me up was my chicas leaving in the morning. But I would have liked to have been able to open the windows.

I brought 6 chicas back to my room, so if I had stayed at SLEEP INN 6 x $35 = an extra $237.50 with the tax added on. So I just cannot bring myself to stay at a hotel that charges chica fees.

Very good point, but I usually only stay 1-2 nights SJ and then to my reg's house Pacifico. Sleep Inn is the quietest place I've stayed in the gulch by far, no comparison. Never stayed at SL but I like what I saw, the environment, mood, bar, compa's, so I thought I'd try it. I am sure the rooms are nice, but based on some of the posts, it sounds like it's a little too loud for a guy like me. All the power to the guys who don't mind, have a blast!

The only thing effecting my sleep in SJO are the hangovers from the dirty, shitty beer and the paper thin mattresses. The noise was never a problem. Except for the roosters when I stayed in Alajuela.

I know what you mean about the beer, Imperial always gives me a hangover, not real bad, but like a dope I keep drinking it, in fact I like it. There was a thread a while ago about this. A well qualified beer maker poster said essentially that dirty or inferior brewed CR beer wasn't possible, it was the altitude or other well reasoned points, but I always feel like crap the next day even if I drink it at sea level, and I don't if I drink the hard stuff (of course when I do it in reasonable amounts)

Does anyone remember the rooster crowing at the break of dawn at the Clarion Amon? To be honest I kind of liked it as it reminded me of being a K*D growing up on the farm.

Another one you guys forgot to mention is the sound of high heels clicking down the hallway early in the morning. :mrgreen:

It was BRUTAL at the Hotel Presidente back in the day. They had tile floors and a horrible echo in the hallways.

Same with the Gran Hotel when they allowed it. Jack hammers at 0600 first night, checked out, fought with them via my credit card co for several months and lost. But I never went back. 8 years ago? It was kind of old and dingy, the lobby and the rooms.
