Dogs yelping and barking in Central America are a given. You should hear the roosters in Honduras! And get some friggin mufflers on the motorbikes, for crimeny sake. (Cuss words edited due to religious season).

Hmmm...you're probably never going to enjoy sleeping in Costa Rica. Between the dogs, birds, people gunning their engines all night long driving down the street to haul ass, people gunning their engines to get up hills, ticos banging on the gates at apartamentos/yelling/honking their horns to get whoever they are visiting to come open the gate, fireworks (most of the month of December and several other times of the year) I sleep just fine. But only with a pair of nice silicone earplugs. It's noisy as hell in San Pedro during the day, and it really never stops at night, just becomes more occasional.

That's why I like Sleep Inn, new construction, new windows, no neighbor room noise, set back from the street, third floor south you don't hear didley outside, only place I stayed in the gulch that is quiet. I wanted to try SL, but I understand it's hard to get the outside noise eliminated when you are in a neighborhood. Too bad.

hmmm Live around the corner from the SL, haven't noticed that much noise. But, I sleep better with noise so maybe just don't notice it.
